re: Gypsy- first preview- what happened in the audience?

Mar 4, 2008 — 2:51:30 AM

I saw it crash down on her. Literally fall from the top, to where she was (in the 2nd row from the front, house right side, about 5 seats in). It didn't look like the picture shown above, but it did make a very large crash. It was a huge commotion, as everyone was saying, and Patti looked pissed that people were looking up at the balcony and not paying attention to her. But if I were the cast of Gypsy, I'd take it as a good sign. Literally brought the house down!

Looks like some folks are complaning in Seattle about getting understudies

"Also ask her what the second cover for the "Tommy DeVito" track had for lunch before going on in the Wednesday matinee." He didn't have lunch. He had a big breakfast that morning. Will be stopping by to see Eric Gutman tomorrow, or sometime this week! Will snag a picture and share it with all you BROADWAY INSIDER friends.

For the most part, I feel like mostly everything said about this cast was positive. Of course, we throw in some flubs and fun things that happen to please one another, but I don't think any of us don't appreciate the actors or the show at all. If we didn't respect the show, we wouldn't see it 30+, even 50+ times ;o). After that... well... 2nd performance, you start to go because of the actors you love (for me, anyways).

In case anyone was interested, all the swings in the SF!Vegas cast have now officially had their first performance. Colin was Hank Majewski on 12/22/07 Mat. - He did a lot of different choices than what Kristofer does. The copy he was a little more lazy and... lazy. Everything he pretty much did, he was great. Very funny Mika, etc. And Mike was Norm Waxman on 12/23/07. - Mike just has that sort of rugged look about him, which is nice. You could tell as soon as he walked onstage that he was th...

I was easily unimpressed with Rick, but the more I actually focused on him, and NOT compared him to anyone, the more I feel satisfied with his performance. Of course if you compare him to Jarrod, Chris, JLY, etc,. you will just pick his performance apart because everyone is different. We also have to remember that he is the one getting paid to do it so he is doing something right. And although a couple of you walk out, extra critical, thinking his voice sounded nasty etc, the rest of the crow...

Weekends are always banging.. Tues and Weds nights are the slowest. They are slowly rising though. We all know what will happen closing week and the mass hysteria.

CONGRATULATIONS, ERIC GUTMAN!!!

Graham has been going on for Joey this whole weekend. He reminds me so much of Michael Longoria, looks wise, it is very fun. The whole cast just keeps getting better. Rick's acting really brings down the house. His Fallen Angel was so touching, and his singing has gotten better (the 3 nights off help). All in all, it was a pleasure. Jeff is still going strong as my favorite in the cast just because of his presence and everything on stage. He has his tough guy, his soft guy, his voice, and he ...

The new SF cast first preview

I lost it when I saw the cover. Then I was surrounded by the posters out in the main lobby and oh boy. Hahaha. Can't wait for a couple more shows when they get used to the audience, etc. so I can see them get even better. Andrew Rannells just blew me away. He was the stand-out for me. I simply loved him.

Jeremy as Tommy

So what do we *think* we have here...? Rick!Frankie Jeff!Nick Andrew!Bob Jeremy!Tommy Someone also told me that the cast that goes to San Francisco might not be the full cast that ends up in Vegas.. meaning some people might be switched in and out before they get to Vegas. Sent some PMs some people's way about it. Very fun. Excited for them to come.

Lizzie, to take a stab at your question: I believe Michelle Knight is the universal swing ;o). Pretty sure.

Definitely true . Jarrod's vacation will be the 17th through the 23rd, so plan plan plan. And judging by those days, John Michael Dias will have the Wednesday Mat/Sunday show. And that would leave the other shows (6 in total) for JMC and SMG-- 3 each . And Dominic Bogart... MY GOD what a looker. He walked onto the stage yesterday before the show and he just looked flawless. I was farther away, but my god, he might be a distraction to the show. Excited to see him.
