Producers Broadway Revival?

I loathed the new London production. The original worked so well because it wrapped up the tasteless in the class of an old school, golden age show. That elevated the entire evening. The new West End production is like a sketch show at the Edinburgh fringe, put together by a group of undergrads

That is really interesting! Did Lucie Arnaz slip through the net when she took over or did she have/use more straight tone back then? This is coming from someone who really likes her voice, just to be clear

This is an overly simplistic take. This is a commercial revival of a musical that was written to be commercial. If there are parts of the writing that might hinder its success with an audience of now, what kind of moron wouldn’t take those into account when producing? In My Fair Lady the character of Higgins is an asshole. But he wasnt written to be anything less than an asshole, in the original production. You can leave him unchanged and the audience are still getting what the authors intend...

Cartwright was never Lynne’s assistant or associate on Phantom. Her longtime associate who had been looking after the show, for many years was fired after Lynne’s death so that Cameron could indeed cut more and more, or the original work without having the associate stand up to him (which she was doing) Now Cartwright is on board and does as instructed, as the original staging is slowly erased bit by bit and Cameron lines his own pockets.
