Grin and Bare it was silly and unnecessary. The Hit List number was awful. The Messing song was absurd.

Well, tonight was pretty bad. Not as bad as the worst, but bad. So what's Ivy's pregnancy gonna do?

Megan Hilty May 11 2013, 10:14:17 AM
Whatever you may think of Brantley (not much, for me), the Times still wields clout. And Brantley is solid Team Hilty. He wrote that the Encores! GPB delivered: "a succession of showstoppers that climaxed with a knockout rendition of “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend,” that immortal anthem to nonliquid assets. The number was sung by Megan Hilty, who gave the gold-digging Lorelei Lee character an original comic audacity that erased memories of Ms. Hilty’s most famous predecessors in that role, Carol Channing and Marilyn Monroe. It felt like one of those single, golden nights, so cherished by theatergoers, that thrust its leading lady into the firmament of musical stardom. ...We whooped, we roared, we beat our hands raw with clapping." http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/21/nyregion/standing-ovations-a-broadway-epidemic.html And see: http://theater.nytimes.com/2012/05/11/theater/reviews/gentlemen-prefer-blondes-with-megan-hilty-at-city-center.html?pagewanted=all

But it's the second picture that looks like there's a baby bump.

They pick these shots as misleading teasers.

"I think NBC might make SMASH a 30 minute show for season 3 focussing on Alec Baldwin producing a Shakespeare play on Broadway." Who gets to play Brantley?

Alec Baldwin Sounds Off on Brantley May 9 2013, 09:22:38 AM
Baldwin aside, the Rich review is a classic analysis, a real review, not the mush that Brantley produces.

Megan Hilty in Can-Can May 7 2013, 05:34:59 PM
""Like Merman, Lilo had never had a voice lesson and possesed a gutsy voice, which Cole peferred to a sweet-voiced soprano. She had remarkablly low notes in her range which suited very well her role as Pastiche" Interesting. Source of quote?

"This role would be a stretch for The Hilt, McLaine made it her own in the very re-written movie. " Two good points. Maybe the rewrite for the stage will make it less of a stretch.

"Yeah, cause Abe Burrows didn't know what he was doing????" They must think he didn't.

Apparently it's 80% rewritten. I wish they wouldn't do that to these classics. The rewrite of PAL JOEY a few seasons back was ridiculous.

Today's announcement that Hilty will be La Mome Pistache in a forthcoming reading of CAN-CAN, headed for Broadway next year, is great news for Megan fans - assuming it's planned for her to do the role on Broadway. Never Give Anything Away, C'est Magnifique, Allez-Vous En, I Love Paris ... a Hilty feast!

SMASH Tony Predictions May 6 2013, 04:22:01 PM
As I posted on another thread, there have been at least 3 occasions in real life when 2 actresses tied for Best Leading and they were both awarded Tonys.

The showrunners have been so obsessed with Karen from the gitgo that it's hard to believe she won't get something.
