The Making of Peter Pan Live!im Nov 28 2014, 01:55:48 PM
JMHO - Dick Cheney would have made an interesting Smee. But seriously, we're looking forward to the live telecast. Hoping nobody turns an ankle at the last minute.

There is GOOD NEWS, Phyllis: Stockard Channing has rejoined the production. During Christmas week she'll recite passages from Dickens' beloved holiday classic on the sidewalks of the Loop. Mr. Von Feldt will accompany her on tin whistle, when he's not guarding the change bucket. Eight magical performances (or until hypothermia sets in).

It must be a sad time in Germany.

Kev, if you're still reading the posts here, consider this: try to succeed on a smaller scale before failing big-time again. At least this removes the temptation for me to go to Chicago from DC right after Christmas (and it might have just by my little old lonesome)for the chance to see James Garner. What unmitigated insanity that excursion would have been... I'm kind of bummed I won't be undertaking it.

Then why wasn't it canceled in September?

So one ad in two newspapers in August for a show in December didn't quite do the job, hm? Astounding.

It's a long story but the short version is: producer promising much more than he was capable of delivering.

MCfan2, the thread you're referring to was growing quite contentious the last time I checked it, and the next day it had vanished. I can only guess the exchanges got progressively uglier. As for the "tour," I think it's still on for Chicago as of this writing, but what with the accumulating Spinal Tap vibes that engagement is probably in jeopardy. Maybe Von Feldt's hanging on, figuring an 80% failure rate (based in the original 5-city plan) is better than a 100% failure rate. Messrs. Garner,

re: Milwaukee's Melody Top Theatre Nov 16 2009, 09:54:31 PM
I saw two shows at Melody Top, both in 1980: The Wiz with Irene Cara and Ira Hawkins, and Chicago with Robert Mandan as Billy Flynn and Louisa Flanningam as Velma. Nice memories, especially of the latter (I had the serious hots for Louisa!).

re: Xmas Carol w/F. Murray Abraham, James Garner... Oct 19 2009, 03:32:41 PM
Any word on who'll be replacing Hutton and/or Channing? I gather Jane Leeves was in the LA production; I'd like to see her. I imagine the chance to see James Garner live will pull in many nostalgic boomers, and I'm very much one of them. Glad he's still on board.

re: Sigourney Weaver as Gypsy Rose Lee in HBO's adaption of 'Gypsy & Me' Jul 17 2007, 10:43:58 PM
I'm hopeful she'll do at least one striptease scene -- flashback, comeback, whatever it takes. The project sounds really promising. I cancelled HBO a while ago but I'd consider re-upping to see this.
