Saw 'About Face' yesterday afternoon...bought tickets on seeing the words 'Jeffrey Lodin' under the title as composer. I had the most stunning evening at his '100 Years Of The Heart' at the NYMF a few years ago and went to this one with hopes of the same kind of magic. Just OK? Donna Marie is a true Broadway Triple Threat. I saw her years ago as one of the CellBlock girls, and have not had the privilege of seeing her go on as Velma, but I will tell you this: If she was one tenth the Velma as she was as a Cell Block Girl, she is definitely a force to be reckoned with. It is truly condescending to say she hasn't gone further than she has because of a lack of talent. Her Playbill Bio mentions she is a wife and mother...perhaps the sacrifices she's made for her...
