I don't agree that Young Frankenstein depends on its leads. Other than Megan, the leads are not well known outside of the theater community, and the theater community has already turned thumbs-down on the show. This musical will continue as long as the tourists buy tickets because they recognize "Mel Brooks" and "Young Frankenstein" on the marquee.

With all due respect to the usher, we are in Broadway's slow season and this is a huge theater. Nevertheless, if the grosses being published by Variety can be trusted, the show is still clearing over $1 million each week. Clearly, this isn't going to be another Jersey Boys or Phantom, but I think that during peak season tourists will see Young Frankenstein on the board, and their familiarity with the source material and Mel Brooks is what will sell seats. Hey musicow. Your posting brought back memories. I wanted to respond when I saw back in October, but BWW's registration process was offline for awhile.
I actually ushered at the Playhouse in the Park from 1974 on and off until it closed. The last few years, I also deejayed the opening night parties in a pavillion behind the theater. We were setting up for the opening night party when Tovah came by in a running outfit and asked if we could recommend any good trails to follow. Before
