Went to see this on my last trip to New York with great expectations and have to say I was very disappointed. Might have just been me but I didn't find it particularly funny or memorable. Luckily I saw Doyle's Company the following night which more than made up for the disappointment.
re: Sweeney Todd - DVD or Film
Love both. The stage DVD is excellent but I really could not have asked for a better film. OK so HBC's singing is not the finest ever heard but her overall performance is just outstanding imo. The look in her eyes during "Nothings Gonna Harm You" when she realises that Toby knows too much is worth the price of admission alone.
