Re: Will Phantom Tour Land on Broadway?

Oct 17, 2026 — 1:08:32 AM

Caught the Phantom tour again Thursday night in San Jose after seeing it in San Francisco, and what a difference a strong Phantom makes.David Young Fernandez was on for Isaiah Bailey, whose performance I really didn't enjoy in SF, and Fernandez was honestly one of the best Phantoms I've ever seen. Easily on par with my personal fav, Hugh Panaro. Vocally effortless, phenomenal acting, and he completely elevated the entire production. If this transfers to Broadway, I REALLY hope the producers c...

Phantom Tour Cast

May 30, 2026 — 10:13:29 PM

Just got back from the new tour at the Orpheum in San Francisco. Longtime Phantom fan here. I've seen the original San Francisco run, the first national tour, multiple Broadway productions dating back to 1990, and part of the closing Broadway run, so I've seen more than my fair share of Phantoms over the years.Overall: 7/10.This is long. Sorry. The production itself looks very good. No tour is ever going to recreate the atmosphere or scale of the Majestic, but this version preserves enough of ...

THE LOST BOYS Previews

Mar 29, 2026 — 12:23:45 AM

3 hours, long intermission, no stops. I have never seen the movie. From a production standpoint, it’s a beast. Major kudos to the design team and Arden. The staging is genuinely impressive, super cinematic, visually striking, and technically dialed in. There are moments that feel big and bold in the best way.But the show itself… all over the place. The tone swings wildly. It starts dark and sinister, then drifts into a very Lifetime movie–style family trauma lane that feels cheesy, generic, an...

DEATH OF A SALESMAN 2026 Previews

Mar 26, 2026 — 11:14:17 PM

Attention must be paid! Easily one of the top five theater experiences of my life. I’ve never seen an audience so completely still and silent—it was mesmerizing. Every performance was electric. Don’t miss this one!

JOHN PROCTOR IS THE VILLAIN Previews

Apr 14, 2025 — 11:17:42 AM

I went again on Saturday, and the performances have only deepened. Just under two hours, but it flew by—it honestly felt like 30 minutes. I do kind of miss intermissions, but including one here would be a disservice. The pacing is relentless in the best way, and that ending wouldn’t land nearly as hard if it were broken up.What really struck me this time was how completely locked-in the audience was. Obviously it varies by performance, but this was the first intermissionless play I’ve seen wh...

STRANGER THINGS: THE FIRST SHADOW Previews

Mar 30, 2025 — 2:00:30 AM

Let’s start with the good news: nobody tripped over a Demogorgon. The show ran smoothly (if long), the effects occasionally impressed, and there are projections aplenty if that’s your thing. Unfortunately, that’s about where the upside ends—and not in the cool, alternate-dimension kind of way.As both a longtime Stranger Things fan and a seasoned theatre-goer, I went into The First Shadow hoping for something thrilling, inventive, and emotionally rich. Instead, I left wondering if the real hor...
