re: DW Big River Review

Mar 3, 2005 — 9:04:51 PM

I haven't seen the show other than Deaf West's production, so my only experience with another version is the OBC CD, but I see what you're saying in some instances. Who did you see -- Zuercher, Monley, Solomon?

Soundtrack = film and TV Cast recording = live theatre Consider the confusion eased when you realize there is a very quick differentiation between "I have the Lion King cast recording" and "I have the Lion King soundtrack."

"Do you know if they also sell tickets for touring productions?" Sometimes. Like teth said, it varies. At least in that area you'll have a lot of fun walking around. :)

The theatre area is not so great, and I'm not entirely familiar with the hotels in the area (seeing as I just go home at the end of the day :) ) but you might want to try anything near the Embarcadero area. It'll be a little pricier, but definitely safer. There are also some good, well-lit, clean hotels in the veryvery downtown area, around Market and 4th, near Old Navy and the Metreon. For some reason I'm blanking on names, but they are definitely large, reputable chains.

Yay, we'll love to have you here! SF is a great "walk around and look at random stuff" city. I love it. I love being less than an hour from it.

Tyrone and Michael both left the first national tour last month. Garrett Zuercher is now playing Huck, and Jerold Solomon is now playing Jim. (I'm not sure who is now in their ensemble roles.) Garrett's site is http://www.garrettz.net. I saw him as Huck once, and he was wonderful. The 2nd national tour will star Chris Corrigan and Michael McElroy. Click below for the (almost) full cast list of the 2nt:

" Huck has always sung "Waitin' for the Light to Shine" early in the show before he does the gospel version in Act II." Oh, okay. I've seen Big River five times, but only the Deaf West version. Someone who was in a regional production a few years ago told me Deaf West had changed that part. Guess they were wrong. Thanks!

I've seen Eatlasagna on various boards for the past few years. You won't get anywhere. But good luck anyway, JGLEN.

Yes, although Deaf West changed some things (deleted Tom Sawyer's "Hand for the Hog" and put a shorter version of Huck's "Waitin' for the Light to Shine" earlier in the show).

re: Wicked Tour Cast

Thanks! I had heard about someone who'd been cast in the ensemble (this was back in mid-January), but I didn't want to mention his name in case he was no longer with the show and then start a big wanky scandal.
