The song was restored for London, Kennedy Center, Melbourne and Tokyo. I don’t think it’s too big a statement for Giorgio to declare his love. It would’ve been out of character for him to sing the big song to Fosca, but in the particular scene where the big song is sung he is explaining to the doctor why he wants to see Fosca that night.
