re: Your Worst Musical Ideas
 Jul 21 2008, 04:45:12 AM
From a guy that knows (kind of... not really) the producer of Watching Paint Dry: A Silent Musical comes:

DIAL-UP: a musical recollection of the internet's humble beginnings

Everyone onstage is dressed as old computers and every dance number includes doing the robot at least once. The set design is full of ethernet cords, networks, computer terminals and the floor is littered with millions of AOL discs.

The orchestra pit is full of members and roadies of Styx.

*shakes head* Fine, I'll jump in on this...

Though, my knowledge of musicals may not be as vast as some of you (it's above average at least), I'll gladly share my opinion, based on what I think:

Alright, I think based on originality: [title of show]

Based on real-life, but in a funny musical kind of way featuring puppets: Avenue Q

Based on what's been said already: A fight between Rent, Gypsy and My Fair Lady

What you call 'the perfect musical' may not be 'the perfect musical' to me. There is no such thing as the ultimate, most cramazing (<-- for my fellow [tos]sers) musical on the face o' the planet.
this thread is SO [title of show] cuz it [you know what] ROCKS!!!

So, being a poor college student in Waco, Texas, I'm afraid I'll never get to see the show and convince Heidi (though, I shan't need too much convincin') to marry me... :o( This makes me terribly sad... But I have a [tos] artifact from a VERY good friend that brought back a signed playbill from [tos] so I'm stoked on that...

Such a good, nay great show...

re: Favorite Shakespeare Play (AND WHY)
 Jun 26 2008, 10:58:40 PM
My theatre teacher in middle school showed us a filmed version of Othello, and that was the first time that Shakespeare's work just clicked for me. And Iago in the film was fan-fuggin'-tastic.

So that's my answer.

This has got to be the stupidest question I've ever heard *chuckles* you're such a stupid bitch!
annoying

I've never seen a Broadway show so my response will have to stick to the theatre that I do know.

I hate when the house is full of people that don't know much about theatre, (example: maybe relatives of the folks onstage that wanted to support son/daughter/cousin etc.) so they act in their non-theatre manners.
- Laughing at something that's not funny.
(example: any sad death scene, think of All My Sons ending)
- Low brow humor.
(example: any form of stupidity that

re: Spring Awakening Rules!

I'm a little afraid to admit this but, I have a copy of Spring Awakening that someone recorded from the show. The first track is the announcement before the show starts about cellie's and what not...

I have a good question...

What if this show wins a Tony?!
I know, I know, that joke was too easy...

re: Rock n Roll Musicals
 May 14 2008, 06:56:18 PM
I think it's a trend that's getting big on Broadway but to say that you hate it and it doesn't have a 'broadway' sound is really limiting yourself. Keep an open mind, there's a huge difference in a musical and a rock show, starting with the seating, and the folks in those seats... And, the people onstage and there intentions... You know, all that stuff.
