The base physical package for this tour is what was used for the original NETworks tour in 2007 - which was great. Shows are decidedly more quiet onstage and backstage. The audience's experience is wildly different as that sound is designed for THAT space. To be fair, it will be interesting to see where sound design goes as time passes.. one of the chief reasons for a show's volume is that the design must overcome the venue HVAC white noise and white noise created by any machinery used in the production... beyond that, it is reflective of audience expectation.. most audience members are tuned to cineplex ...

Morosco, I won't answer that to Broadway SPECIFICALLY... I will just say that you would be VERY surprised how a rule like that can change so wildly by locality and venue. I have been in the middle of load ins where you must have a hardhat on at all times and I have been in the middle of load ins where I could not have found a hardhat in the building if I were on a million dollar scavenger hunt.

@Wick3 - Yes, the Winter Garden is a Shubert house and the Wilson is a Jujamcyn house. No, there is no "exclusivity" here. You can be a House crew member and take extra work anywhere else you choose. Crew members of a show will often take extra work doing load in / load outs / restorations of other houses as their schedule allows in order to augment their income, just as actors do readings / workshops and film / tv on the side.

First things first is to remember theatre Disney Theatricals is a separate entity from the Parks and other things, so something bad for the parks does not necessarily affect Disney Theatricals.

Only chiming in to say that a very well filmed version of a live theatre piece is equitable to a high tech, modernized souvenir program in my mind. No more and no less.

"Reasonable option"? Meaning selling a product that literally does not exist and would currently not provide an income stream for ANYONE working on the show besides the producer because those contracts do not actually exist in the world currently?

I remember when Prop 8 passed there were a few vocally conservative and proudly Mormon people defending the Mormon involvement in supporting Prop 8 and it leading to some very awkward and tense situations in some companies... so... yeah.

Housing is regulated for an Equity actor. It is not for a non-Union actor. That point ALONE is major here. Theatre by the Sea, for example, has housing where Equity members have their own rooms and non-Equity members share bedrooms dorm-style. If you eat up an Equity contract or two with staff positions, you already save housing space and all associated with it.
