re: Hottest Actor/Actress in SOUTH PACIFIC

PAULO SZOT!!!

And he is incredibly nice in person.

I saw his last performance on Sunday as well. It's actually my 4th time. Kelli O'Hara cried on stage after Paulo sang "Some Enchanted Evening"... She doesn't usually do that.

And she cried again at the end of show, while she and Danny Burstein asked for donation for BROADWAY CARES/EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS. All the cast members were on stage and some of them were crying. It almost felt like as if it's the last performanc

re: On the Town Encores Thoughts

I left the theater at 10:30pm last night but the show didn't start till almost 8:15pm. They opened the doors quite late as there was some dinner thing going on on the 2nd floor. The intermission started at around 9:30pm. I'd say the whole thing is probably about 2hr 20min.
re: On the Town Encores Thoughts

Saw it last night. Had a great time!!

This is how a musical should be done, with performers who can sing and dance well. Though it's only a concert version, I have to say I enjoyed it way much more than Pal Joey (which I saw 4 days ago).

Andrea Martin is funny as hell. There was a scene of her with Jessica Lee Holdyn (as Ivy Smith) which got so comical that Holdyn bursted into laughter on stage. Even the orchestra members on stage were laughing their butts off.

re: My Thoughts On PAL JOEY

Saw it on Sunday.

Agree with everyone that Christian Hoff can't really dance or sing. 10 minutes into the show I found myself thinking :"How nice it would have been with Gene Kelly doing the show....." And then I thought, maybe Antonio Banderas 15 years younger. (Hugh Jackman is probably too likable, Matthew Morrison looks a bit too young.) Tommy DeVito in Jersey Boys was a great role for Hoff. But here in Pal Joey, the lack of dancing and singing skills shows. And one can't help but w

re: Shrek...the musical that goes nowhere

"No, it is not as much fun as the movie, also called 'Shrek,' on which it is based. No, it does not provide $301 worth of pleasure (the price for “premier seating”). Even by the blaring standards of Broadway, it stands out ...for its eye-splitting visual effects and would-be side-splitting jokes. It... certainly has a high density of talent. It also surely has the hardest-working supersize ensemble.......If I haven’t said much about the musical numbers, it’s because they mostly blend tog

And one can't help but wonder why so many women would fall for him as he's not even a bit charming in the role. Maybe he's trying to pull a Frank Sinatra here (

New "Emile de Becque" in South Pacific?

Who will play the role of Emile de Becque after Paulo Szot leaves "South Pacific"? He is scheduled to leave by the end of this month right? I want to buy tickets for the show and not sure if I should try to see it while Paulo Szot is still playing or wait for the new cast.
Finalists for the role of Nellie in South Pacific

I was reading a NY Times article and it mentioned that there were four finalists for the role of Nellie (which eventually went to Kelli O’Hara) in the current production of South Pacific.
I've seen the show 3 times (I know, it's crazy) and think O'Hara does a great job. I do wonder who the other 3 finalists were though.

Back in early 2007 it was reported that both Scarlett Johansson and Reese Witherspoon were 'in the running' to play Nellie Forbush. Not sure if they even made
