I signed on right at noon and it took me a couple of tries but I only wanted one seat and managed to get one. But allowing anyone to purchase more than a reasonable number of seats (say - six?) really is not fair when the event is unique and going to be sold out quickly. Fifty? wow -

If they love theater, they will appreciate the breadth of the story and the mixture of humor and regret and just sheer humanity. It was one of the best things I have seen in years.

Williams is fantastic but this is tremendous yawn and interrupted too often for too many commercials. If I didn't already know something about Fosse and Verdon, I wouldn't know anything meaningful about them from the show. It all seems so superficial.

I am seeing this tomorrow afternoon but I have just finished reading the play, and, at least on the page, it comes across as frequently funny. Some of it is silly funny - the character Larry is a real smart aleck and is intentionally funny, often as a form of self defense. And Driver's character, Pale, has long, rambling, over-the-top monologues at several points and those would be deadly if done seriously. I enjoyed reading this, and look forward to see how it comes across in performance.

I have tickets for this in a couple of weeks. An earlier poster said the production was a bore when Lear is not on stage which means the supporting cast must be weak or badly directed. A good Edgar/Edmund pairing or a strong Gloucester can rip your heart out. I suffered through the LEAR at BAM with Anthony Sher last April and it was beyond tiresome but had a fantastic Gloucester. This may be a test of the old saying that I would go to see Glenda Jackson read the phone book.

I am so sorry to hear this. He was a remarkable performer and very attractive when he was young. I cannot imagine anyone else as Tom Jones. May he rest in peace.

I saw the Encores! production about twelve yers ago. Tremendous bore and no memorable music.

I have not seen HAMILTON yet - going later this month - but I appreciate anyone who can reflect at length about what he has seen and how he has reacted to it. Most of the writing about the show feels like hagiography and not theatrical criticism. I look forward to judging for myself very soon. Thank you, Bob Main 2, for the effort you put into your post.

I saw 1.0 and 2.0 and loved them both but mainly because Douglas Sills was so incredible. It is neither the best or worst Broadway musical I have seen but it was memorable which is more than I can say of most of the new musicals over the past ten years.As for casting, Sills would be amazing if he can handle the role and not worry about competing with our memories of him from the original.
