Chicago The Musical Appreciation Thread

You say this with some authority but it is not true. It is a new scrim with black textured lettering across the width of the scrim. The lettering will pick up whatever color is shone on it. The pre-show announcement begins with the letters in gold to match the

Mel B breaks character in final Chicago performance
 Feb 20 2017, 12:44:32 PM

Being a fan of Chicago AND the Spice Girls - I saw Mel B at the beginning of her run as well as last night. Honestly, I went to see "Scary" Spice - not Sutton Foster - and that's what I got. Last night was obviously a last performance because she was way over the top compared to the first time I saw her. BTW, from what I saw/heard, she didn't actually say "mother&^er" in Act II - she fell in the Jury's lap and while she was hitting him, said "Muth

A question about Adam Pascal's performance in Chicago and the current state of the show

Saw the show a couple of weeks ago with Paige Davis as Roxie and thought it was holding up quite well, actually. Davis was very good. Pascal didn't have any line problems when I saw it, but I don't think it's a particularly good role for him. A friend in the cast said that Walter Bobbie comes around a fair amount. Don't agree about the ensemble - I liked the variety of age and looks and felt they were pretty invested.
PRISCILLA Tour First Look!

It's the same exact script as the Broadway show, no changes musically. The bus is only very slightly smaller (it IS the Bdwy bus, less than a foot taken off the width and a foot off the length.) Only difference in cast is 9 ensemble men instead of 10.
re: Does Chicago need to close?

Exactly - this is a ridiculous thread. CHICAGO does not NEED to close. The Ambassador is NOT a desirable house for the vast majority of musicals. It only seats 1100 - meaning it would take years for most shows to recoup (obviously CHICAGO recouped years ago). Add to this that there is NO backstage space (the theatre is shaped like a diamond - wedged in between other buildings). Only a musical with a few small moving pieces could play there. It is the perfect place for CHICAGO - like 'em or h

Saw it last week and was very impressed with Ashlee Simpson - smoky voice and surprisingly good in the scenes. I thought the rest of the show was in fantastic shape - there was, however, only one understudy on the night I went. LOVE Brent Barrett is a great Billy and Roz Ryan sings the hell out of her song as Mama.
re: How to succeed on Broadway without really trying

Aaron Sorkin had never been produced (on Broadway or elsewhere) when A FEW GOOD MEN opened on Broadway in December 1989. It ran for 13 months -

Nobody died - Jerry Grayson had a heart attack at the end of Act I (I know because I worked on it and was the one who called out for a doctor in the house) - this happened to be the performance that the NYT was in the audience. This show got a bad rap - Ron Eldard was a very good Terry - was based on the noel which of course came before the film.
