If I am paying $100 for a meal, you can bet that I wouldn't show up looking sloppy. I try to dress for the theatre. And like someone on this post said, dressed doesn't have to mean uncomfortable. Whenever I see someone dressed to the nines at a show I always wonder who they are. I never look at them and feel like they over-dressed. I understand that it is not always possible to dress up.
