This quote comes from a PHANTOM article a friend of mine is writing for an entertainment magazine.

I didn't know Ullman and Kline were in negotiations for the project - when did this happen?

No official casting announcement has been made (and IMdb has no casting info yet).

Speculation is fun - but I'd not want Kevin Kline to play Sweeney...he hasn't got the singing chops for it. Tracy as Lovett could be wonderful, though!

No way it's already cast, or I would have heard about it. Not that, you know, I insanely follow that kind of stuff or anything...

Anway, Mendes is set to direct, but that's it. And even that could change, knowing how movie development goes.

How can they already be casting? the screenplay isn't DONE yet.

Wickedfan, I believe they also cast the Rent movie before the screenplay was completely finished.

But I could've sworn I've heard that Kevin Kline was indeed doing the Sweeney Movie...or maybe I'm just remembering his name being thrown around as a good choice for the role.
