Re: The Festival

Tell me I'm wrong."Maybe I'm just too much of a Renthead to see straight, but I think Rent's story in many ways feels more relevant now than it has since the first year or so after it opened. I mean, essentially it is a...

It may be good quality, but you're still contributing to this horrid man who has no business being involved in the theatre scene anymore. He's an incredible producer."Well he sent an assistant to the hospital after smashin...

Oskar Eustis Retiring July 2028

Jul 22, 2026 — 1:58:59 PM

I loved Eustis’ time at The Public. Plenty of misses but a lot of magic. He’s always seemed like one of the most genuinely enthusiastic & dedicated artistic directors to me. and please god ANYONE but Saheem Ali to succeed him. I have not enjoyed any of his work. Maybe he’d fare better as a curator than he does as a director himself but nothing about him excites me.

New Jennifer Nettles musical, GIULIA, will premiere in NY this fall

Jul 11, 2026 — 9:55:17 AM

Juan Ramirez’s review for theatrly is ringing true for me on this one.I thought this was an amazing concept for a new musical with a lot of ingredients to make something great, though Zimmeran’s direction couldn’t quite mix them all together in the right way.I couldn’t help but admire Nettles’ ambition with this story & could feel she was creating it from and inspire place and in earnest, but that she needs

Amazing cast, amazing play, and perfect play for Whitney White to be directing. I'm SO excited for this!!

Pretty sure there are two intermissions and every show that uses Yondr pouches allows you to access your phone at intermission if you need to

SPRING AWAKENING at Studio Seaview (Off-Broadway)

Jun 10, 2026 — 2:53:35 PM

If Sadie does this I have to imagine tickets will be hard to get. She’s quite a talented singer and has had a year to work on some stamina. Danya Taymor directing does make me think she might be on board.

Final Tony Predictions in All Categories

Jun 4, 2026 — 12:00:08 PM

I thought Nichelle was amazing and is maybe suffering from being compared to Audra McDonald, who she is completely different from. But I do agree that Shoshana completely elevated what she had to work with in Lost Boys. She was the best part of a pretty full show, and I think her being nominated without wins in recent years will push her towards a win this year. It’s an award with cumulative context

TITANÍQUE Reviews

Jun 1, 2026 — 12:50:12 AM

Did anyone watch her appearance on StageLeft? It seems it was only up for 72hours. I suspect the only thing Kathy Deitch will get from this is the tips she bragged about and the certainty that no one wi the any sense in this business will want to work with her ever again.

Any buzz on Romeo and Juliet?

I hated it. It was genuinely the worst production of Twelfth Night I’ve ever seen—including college productions. It was shallow & vapid & avoided any deeper themes of the material. The only thing holding it together was the sheer a

Eugene O’Neil Theatre on fire!!

May 28, 2026 — 6:34:52 AM

I think it’s totally possible most of the audience had no idea the show was shut down at all. This is a tourist show at this point and the people seeing the show aren’t going to be up on theater news. A show shutting down for three weeks means nothing to them—if they even heard the news.

Gaten Matarazzo to lead RENT on the West End

May 20, 2026 — 1:05:29 AM

I kind of feel like it’s the perfect time for a RENT revival, as long as someone has a strong take on the show. there was a moment there where most people seemed to shift to thinking RENT was a bad show and “Benny was the good guy!” And I think in the past 4-5 years we’re seeing that RENT feels so relevant: it’s becoming harder and harder for artists to make a living (especially in NY), we’re in increasingly isolating times where we all feel ourselves crushed under capitalism, and while AIDS ...

I really hope Jessica Vosk is able to originate in a role and show worthy of her talents soon.

Drama League Awards 2026 on TDF

10% is a pretty significant number of people if voting on any particular award is fairly close, which this year it almost certainly will be on the major musical awards.

Who's taking Leading Actress in a Musical this year?

ElephantLoveMedley said: "This is Ragtime's year.Marla isn't in the best of voice during this run of the show and, frankly, I'd rather have seen them cast other, better sung Celines for the Broadway debut."That’s funny. I do hear that Marla’s voice hasn’t been at its best, but I’d rather see a Celine who soars at the comedy and runs the show like a ringleader and she does it for me. Her comedy is so on point for me. Also she wrote the show, she’s earned the right to originate it on ...

Who's taking Leading Actress in a Musical this year?

May 14, 2026 — 11:57:23 AM

I honestly think the only thing that could kill Caissie’s chance of winning is the murmurs that Next to Normal is planning to transfer and the thought that Diana is a showier role and she’d likely win next year.
