RAGTIME 2025 Reviews

He was on today and was lovely.

I got to thinking after the performance - is younger brother actually Mother’s son? Sort of in the way it’s understood that Winthrop is Marion’s son in The Music Man but he’s called her “younger brother”?

Mother has such affection for Sarah, an unwed mother, and is so protective of Sarah and her baby when Father criticizes them. It got me thinking that Mother experienced the same sort of thing before she me

Yet again, Sara Holdren’s review reigns supreme for me. I love to see that she can completely see where shows are coming from. For a critic who is often deeply philosophical she seemed fully on board for the journey of this one and eee she value in it.

I know this show has a steep hill to climb but boy am I rooting for it to succeed!

I love that you just completely ignored the question: who would you be instead? Erivo turned the gig down—now what? Who would be your choice tha isolate of a name than Pink?

I love that I answered that question much earlier in the thread and you didn’t read. I mean Elton John (Broadway composer and music legend), Sheryl Lee Ralph ( original Dreamgirl and Abbott), Bob the Drag Queen. All I’m looking for is a d

Let’s wait for the ratings since everyone on this board is so knowledgeable. Cynthia had worldwide relevancy bc Wicked was everywhere. Pink selling out stadiums does not equal to her fans watching the TONY awards. It’s two different markets…. Theater does not matter to most of the people who see Pink in concert. A film mightdifferent. A theater award show, not so much.

But hey, I hope to be prove

P!nk is a worldwide name who has solid millions of albums. STFU about her not being "known" or "HOT TOPIC"."

Selling millions of albums doesn’t make you relevant today. Cynthia had Wicked acclaim. There was a topical draw. I love Pink. Doesn’t meant she’s the kind of person people want to see HOST and she’s not someone people have been actively talking about.

Just bc one do

Unless he had a "come to Jesus" moment, which to the best of my knowledge he hasn't, there's a good reason he was chased out of Broadway. But he's got an EGOT so theater owners will bend over for him. It's gross. No thanks."

This is the only comment I care for in this thread. I don’t know why Broadw

Well as someone who never saw this Off-Broadway and wondered “wtf are they thinking?” when this was announced I have to say I thought this was an absolute BLAST and every bit deserves to be on Broadway.

In a world where Oh Mary! Is a huge Broadway hit, this feels in the same vein but felt way more energetic and genuinely funny and more of a full show.

Not everything on Broadway has to be all that deep and maybe there’s just a

It’s not quite aged enough to read as nostalgic, so instead it just feels dated. I laughed here and there, but overall it landed as a pretty big “meh” for me. I just kept thinking “why this play and why now…?” Still haven’t figured it out, honestly."

Although some of the contextual elements may feel "dated" - the show itself feels more alive and now that ever

I agree with Auggie re: Becky’s BPD.

would it have been satisfying to watch her let loose? Yes.

was it even more realistic and chilling to watch her go from wanting to date Max to threatening to blackmailing him in about a minute?

absolutely.

I’m going to pile onto the praise for this one. This has to be one of the best theater experiences I’ve had all season. The play is razor sharp, cruel, funny, maddening, and while I hear the criticism that it pulls as so many strings I think that what makes it so compelling beyond merely being a comedy. Every time you think you know what it’s about, it reveals another layer of humanity that is wrapped up in this messy connections between these people. I found myself wonderin

SCHOOL GIRLS headed to Broadway

This is amazing new. I absolutely loved this play off-Broadway and felt it deserved more attention.

I hope this is a bit of the John Proctor Is The Villain effect---theaters realizing that plays about young people actually have an audience.

Kecia Lewis is offended again
 Dec 14 2025, 06:46:10 PM

Oh no, this sucks.

I finally saw Hell's Kitchen a few weeks ago, and while I thought the show was okay, I was absolutely blown away by Kecia Lewis. I couldn't believe how much she was giving to a show that was not rising to the level of depth and heart she was giving on that stage, and so long into her run.

But this makes me feel icky about her.

And to be clear, if I were Jeannette, I would not post this video on the day Kecia leaves

Meet the Cartozians at 2nd Stage

Saw it this weekend and this is one of the best things I've seen all year. I honestly haven't heard too much word of mouth about it, and think it deserves a lot more chatter than it is getting. I found it to be so niche and specific but deeply universal all at once. The way Talene Monahan has taken this subject and used it to shine a huge light on so much of American culture was astounding to me.

The entire cast is wonderful as well. Cannot recommend this one eno

I saw this. Obviously it’s a great team and an absolutely stacked cast of amazing talent.

I’m glad I saw it but the play does need to be some trimming and molding.

I felt like Marin Ireland’s character had the central and clearest arc though I agree the change in her character comes about too quickly/unexpectedly and not entirely in a good way. But she’s an absolutely thrilling actor and sells it.
