I know what you must be thinking: "Ebonic_Singer...making a WICKED POST?!?! Has he lost his mind? Is he clinically insane?! Did he find some wild mushrooms growing on the sidewalk and decided to ingest them, inducing mind-numbing long-term insanity?!" Well, the answer is yes, but that isn't why I'm posting. It's because I love me some soulful female belting, which is why I pose the question: Who the frick was there tonight and saw her?!? Was it a crazy riffapalooza filled with insane soulful high notes?! Share the details!

She was absolutly HORRIBLE.
Shaking, Unconfident, resembled the much noted "Sick Idina" Preformace, not just in Defying Gravity, but EVERY DAMN SONG.
Why did they hire her? I'll never know.

Brandi happens to be a VERY talented singer (anyone who owns the Hair Actor's Fund recording would know that) and your post was not only unnessary but extremely insulting

Sho was also out on Friday night. Saycon went on instead. It was my first broadway show in many years and I was a little worried when I saw that Saycon was going on, but I ended up being pleasantly suprised. She did a nice job!

I love me some Saycon! (I am a little biased because I kind of know her but...)

I am not suprised Brandi went on. Even though Sho was sick, I figured they would put Brandi on sometime before the end of the year, because if Saycon does take over (God willing,) I figured if Brandi was under consideration to become Standby (which I'm sure she is) they would have wanted to see her go on..

I saw the show this evening. Brandi started out the show shaky and her "The Wizard and I" wasn't the best because of that. But she definitely let it rip during "Defying Gravity." My only complaints about her is that she had to look down to find her marks every now and then, and the tempo of "No Good Deed" was slowed down quite noticeably. But this was one of her first times going on so it wasn't a big deal.

She played Elphaba more nerdy than I've ever seen. I was kind of worried because I wasn't sure if her transition from geek to confident diva during the Act I finale would be a good one. But she somehow pulled it off.

Not the best Elphaba I've seen thus far, and certainly not the worst. The crown for worst goes to Saycon. Ick.

I'm definately excited that there's finally a new Elphaba. I'd have to *hear* and *see* her for myself before I actually judged her, but hey, another soulful Witch is always good.

And hey, for her first time, a little shaken up is pretty much amazing.

It's good to know someone was rooting for me.

Sadly, I didn't get to see her, but I tried like you wouldn't believe.

I was in the city last night on the cancellation line (didn't get a ticket) and again today when unbelievable and promising circumstances turned out to not be so golden after all. I felt like Charity, a la (pardon my paraphrasing) "Did you ever have one of those days where everything was just perfect...yeah, well this sure isn't one of them."

I just hope she was great.

I'm thinking Sho will be out more this week, and I MIGHT be able to get in one night to try the lottery...maybe, so it's not like I'll never see her. I mean, the odds of Brandi going on again and my classes being cancelled and me winning the lottery concurrently aren't too abismal, right?

And at least she got to go on, finally! Even if I'll never get to see her.

yeah, for the first time that's pretty good...

i am 98% sure she went on unrehearsed, which might explain the marks thing. this was not a scheduled put on like most understudies (including kristy cates and stacie morgain lewis) have gotten in the past. sho was sick so i guess they just decided to cease the oppertunity to see brandi.
