Is the Roundabout serious?!?!?!?!

The lowest ticket price for THE PAJAMA GAME is $86.25...and that's for Rear Mezz!!! I mean with a cast that includes Connick, Jr. and McKean I can understand why tickets would be a tad expensive...but this is pushing it.

Yet I can get Rear/Last Row mezz for $51.25/$36.25 respectively for THREEPENNY OPERA. And Cyndi Lauper is a far bigger name than Harry Connick, Jr. (at least to the general public).

I think I'm going to THREEPENNY it.

re: Is the Roundabout serious?!?!?!?!

I'm excited.

I had fully intended to see THREEPENNY in the beginning but was just checking out the PAJAMA GAME site because of Kelli O'Hara and the curiosity about the new numbers.

To be honest. The only experience I have with THREEPENNY is the version of "Pirate Jenny" I saw Bea Arthur sing at her one-woman show and it gave me chills. I couldn't be more excited about this show.

The Roundabout is a bunch of a**wipes. They pay their actors via "special agreement." Meaning, crap. That is SUPPOSED to be passed on to the ticket/subscription buyer.

Rath..i'm with YOU...they are NUTS...whats going on with theater these days? the theater should be accessible for everyone, FAMILIES too..not just rich people. i think you should have to pay according to income! so donald trump can pay $10,000 a ticket and we can pay $10.

re: Is the Roundabout serious?!?!?!?!

$86.25? For rear mezzanine? I'm assuming orchestra seats are therefore close to $100. That's a lot of money for ANY show, let alone "The Pajama Game".

re: Is the Roundabout serious?!?!?!?!

Maybe they don't expect it to be a big hit, so they're trying to rake in as much $$ as possible. I'd never pay that much to see it. I was interesting in seeing it just for O'hara, but not now ha.

re: Is the Roundabout serious?!?!?!?!

Well, I bought tickets for a co-worker and had to pay the $86 but to be frank the two days she had picked to see the show only had about 10 tickets left total. So it must be selling well and I don't know about an extension.

Do you think student rush will be available for PJ Game?

I'm confused now. I thought Roundabout were mounting Threepenny Opera...?

You should all check out hiptix.com. When Roundabout has a show in previews, tickets are available day of for about $30 if you belong to the club. Check it out, it's free and worth it.

re: Is the Roundabout serious?!?!?!?!

Yet another reason for me not to bother seeing this -- though the discounts for this will start popping up soon enough.

re: Is the Roundabout serious?!?!?!?!

The Powers That Be at the Roundabout should be rounded up and....put out to pasture at a community theatre somewhere. An outrageously exploitive organisation. Not for profit my tuchus...

re: Is the Roundabout serious?!?!?!?!

Trust me. Discount flyers in the $50-60 range will start showing up for this show in the next week or two. Every show announces their stupid, insanely high, official prices a few weeks before opening to catch the suckers and then offers discounts when they know that not every performance will sell out and for this one, they'll be PRAYING people will come along to shell out $55 for an orchestra seat. Mind you, they may get cute and offer discounts that only bring the top price down to $70, but I doubt it. It's friggin PAJAMA GAME! People are not clamoring to see this show or Harry f-ing Connick Jr.

Frankly, I think I'll be waiting till the show pops up on the papering services in previews like every other Roundabout show.

re: Is the Roundabout serious?!?!?!?!

Roundabout also has day-of rush: $26 for students and $21.25 for general rush, if I remember correctly.

re: Is the Roundabout serious?!?!?!?!

I stopped by the theater a few days ago, and I believe the sign said that they had student rush for $36. I didn't see anything about general rush. I may have read it wrong, though, or may be remembering incorrectly.

"Harry f-ing Connick Jr."

Margo, with all your inherant wisdom, I think that is my favorite thing you have ever said. does he even have presence? I mean I know he sounds good on a cd and all, but will he be able to deliver with leading man magnetism?

re: Is the Roundabout serious?!?!?!?!

When I purchased my tickets for Pajama Game they were 100.00 and now they are 111.00

And did you notice that there are no Center Orchestra seats available (yet) to The ThreePenny Opera?

Perhaps only if you are a Signature Visa Cardholder?
