My spidey sense tells me that this production is currently in the "let's start telling people about this idea and try to raise money" phase of production. That said, if the producers can get another household name for Oscar, they will have no trouble getting investors. I agree that Jon Stewart would be great. Steve Carrell is definitely a Felix though, and that is the role Colbert is reportedly tapped for.

Re: Megan Hilty Replacing in Established Broadway Show?

Sep 24, 2026 — 5:48:39 PM

I really can't imagine paying Broadway prices to see a live "radio play," but it will likely cost very little to produce, and if they can get some A-list names, well if I were a Broadway producer it would make sense to me...

blug, thank you for your apology, and for articulating your thoughts more thoroughly and reasonably this time. I found some of what you wrote informative, and I appreciate that. There is clearly a lot of heavy emotion going on in this thread, and I understand and appreciate why some people get extremely passionate about the Palestine-Israel conflict. It’s horrifying. That said, going back and reading this thread again, it’s pretty nasty. Lots of comments (not just to me) along the lines of “you...

I’m sure you’re really changing the world.BTW, you calling someone a “POS” for disagreeing with you doesn’t make you a hero, it makes you an a**hole. But I hope you get more “likes” on your post!

North American Tour of The Lion King to close in 2027

Sep 11, 2026 — 2:24:23 PM

"We have seen with our current Beauty and the Beast tour that audiences are willing to pay top dollar for what looks like a summer stock production supplemented by excessive projections, so we have decided that we can make even more money by doing The Lion King the same way. We thank our millennial audience members in advance for once again sacrificing high standards for the sake of a nostalgia trip they can share with their children, and for continuing to buy tickets to whatever slop we cran...

Bess Wohl’s “Small Mouth Sounds” Broadwaybound?

This play is very much an ensemble piece and would be an odd choice for Julia Roberts…

I’ve only read the play, not seen it, and the writing r...

Re: 10 Things I Hate About You - Broadway, August 2027

Aug 17, 2026 — 1:25:35 PM

Ermengarde, you make a good point. If out of town tryouts are no longer used as originally intended - that is, to work out a show's problems away from critics and with a more forgiving regional audience and then make substantial changes - then there's no point. Might a well just do a lot of workshops and hope for the best.

Disney will launch North American tour of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST in 2025

Aug 16, 2026 — 12:18:26 PM

I was really disappointed in the tour. The original production was one of the first Broadway shows I saw as a kid, and it was magical and unforgettable. The touring production is incredibly cheap looking with overly-long dance breaks replacing cut character-development songs, and some of the casting is a real head-scratcher. If Disney is indeed going to revive BATB on Broadway, they need to start over from scratch and not plop this lame money-grab into the Palace or anywhere else in New York.

I will be very disappointed if he’s not in it and it would be a mistake for him to choose Paddington over Yankees"I don’t think Rob McClure chose to leave Damn Yankees - rather, the producers were looking for a celebrity to sell more tickets, and Paddington then fell like manna from heaven. I agree that NPH is kind of an odd choice for Applegate though. He strikes me as miscast.

Re: Come From Away Broadway Revival Status?

Aug 9, 2026 — 6:40:18 PM

I’m not sure that the 25th anniversary of 9/11 is going to be the selling point the producers of this revival seem to think that it is.
