My thoughts on "bare"...

I had the opportunity to see "bare" recently. From the moment the boys in the band (with cool haircuts) came out and hugged each other you knew there was love in the house. I haven't been this affected by a show in a very long time. "bare" is friggin' awesome!!!!!!!!!!!! The chemistry between Michael Arden who plays Peter and John Hill who plays Jason was amazing. I must add that John Hill looked really cute in his black 2xist underwear. He played the perfect pretty boy jock type valedictorian. Kaitlin Hopkins was wonderful as Peter's mother Claire. I was in tears during "See Me." Equally outstanding was Romelda T. Benjamin who plays Sister Chantelle. This woman has soul and can really work a stage. Jenna Leigh Green was great as Ivy. She played the perfect bitch! Natalie Joy Johnson as Nadia was phenomenal. I loved her character to death. Mike Cannon (from the Mamma Mia! tour) who played Zach was a superb chorus boy (hairy legs and all! HAHA). Last but not least, Adam Fleming played a fabulous Lucas who was the club kid/drug dealer with attitude.
Trust me, if you liked Rent or tick, tick...BOOM! you will absolutely love "bare". This show is a must see. There's not a bad seat in the house, you are practically on the stage. It got a very well deserved standing ovation. I will definitely be seeing this one again before it's run ends, which I heard has been extended. I think I'll bring my Mom next time.

You join the ranks of many as a groupie of the awesome show. I've seen it twice now and I hope to get back again. Each time I see it, it effects me more and more!!!
I hope everyone goes! I'm thinking of bringing my mom because of the wonderful relationship, thanks to the awesome Kaitlin Hopkins, between mother and son.
AWESOME!!!!

Posted: 4/26/04 at 11:15amI loved RENT and TTB. My thoughts on Bare: It sounds like RENT and looks like DAWSON'S CREEK, but it doesn't belong at the Nederlander or on the WB. I'm gonna give the show another viewing in the hopes that it will pull me in. That's how much I believe in it. It has huge potential.

I wasn't sure what to think of this show after the opening number. But it grew on me, quickly. I found it truly affecting and Michael Arden's voice is something you must hear before you die (and I do not give compliments of that magnitude freely). And that Jenna Leigh Green is pretty darn hot and really delivers the goods in the second act. Sure, I had some issues with the show, but it's heart it TOTALLY in the right place. And what's more, you know that there are kids all around this country living this story. Yes, we (as a society) have come a long way in fully accepting our gay brothers and sisters, but there's still so far to go. But heck, my GRANDPA is even coming around and I wouldn't have predicted that in a million years.
By the way, Bwaylyric, who is playing Kim in your board icon? It looks like Ma'an. I saw her at Pittsurgh CLO and thought she was great. Voice was made for that show. She's a little cooky, but aren't we all? :)

I have heard so many things about this show that I definetely want to see it !! What do you guys think, will it be played when I come to NYC in September ??? Can it extend until then, what usually happens ? Or if it gets transferred to Bway, will it be so soon ? I'd appreciate your thoughts !
Take care

They need to lose the Romeo and Juliet "song"...among other things.
Horrible.

OH! And let me be the first (in my mind) to say it.
Moving BARE to Broadway is a BAD idea.

Posted: 4/28/04 at 1:29amI would love to see some of the performers in other things though, and I'm sure we will. But they needed to run some more tests and do some more editing to some of the book and music.

PH2 is officially a Bare-backer!
I think it will stay past their planned date.. they need to create that "EXTENDED BY POPULAR DEMAND" buzz....
And I agree- the show would loose A LOT moving to Broadway.
Mike Cannon has one hot body- even if he is str8 :)
