I found this on another board, and thought it was an absolute hoot.

I suggested that she turn the train into the Cabaret and she should be their emcee the next time they start telling people how they are going to hell.

Posted: 9/18/04 at 1:43pmI saw that on metaquotes an hour ago! Hilarious. I wish I lived in a big city so I could ride the subway and do that. Unfortunately...I don't. But there's always the train.

I LOVE that story (though I found it a bunch of other places, first).
That so needs to be the official way to defend against out-of-place preaching.

Posted: 9/18/04 at 4:37pmI actually did that once in high school. Well, not the showtunes part, but the part about trying to reason with a subway preacher. What can I say- I was naive. Those people don't want to talk to you, they want to talk at you. Like you're an object (a sinner, a heathen, one of the damned) rather than a person. I hate people like that. Maybe next time, if I'm feeling up to it, I dazzle them all with my (transposed) rendition of "Green Finch and Linnet Bird."
