If i lived in NY i don't think I'd recognize her..teh crowd at the stage door had to be TOLD it was Saycon..there was like three other females *african-american :)* that came out before her and we all stared at them and finally the stage door guy said "Here's Saycon!" so we all felt dumb...

HEY! she was green! I couldn't tell what she looked like!

Saycon has only done three shows? That is incredible! In the clips I heard she was amazing; by far the best F of Defying Gravity I have heard. Extremely clear, powerful, smooth ...

I saw her second performance - the night show - and those F's weren't nearly as amazing. Think "Idina on a bad day"...

On a bad day, Idina doesn't even attempt to hit the F. I have a recording in which she completely sings an alternate melody for that entire line of the song. It's disappointing.

Okay got back from a looong day, DRS thing earlier(I'll talk about than in another thread that I'm sure discusses it) but quick summary of Wicked:

yeah noticed there was an understudy thingie posted and was pretty surprised to see both leads with them. I was really surprised to see Stacy Morgan Lewis in for Glinda, guess it makes more sense if JLT was on vacation, maybe Megan was out, oh well. Didn't mind seeing Saycon, I saw Shosh at Idina's "last" performance, kinda looking forward to seeing her again, but seeing as I love the show so much, it was really nice to see different takes on the character.

Saycon-definitely a powerhouse singer. Wizard and I was a little...I dunno seemed the first part of "help me meet the wizard" felt held back but the rest of the song was great, and she certainly ended it on a bang. I remember not loving Shosh's, so I think I liked her's better. It seemed Saycon and Stacy weren't completely with each other in What Is This Feeling but the duets were fine for the rest of the show, maybe they had to get a tad used to each other. Defying Gravity was great as usual, I was a tad disappointed she picked the lower notes of Bring Me Down, not the alternate high ones, if you guys know what I'm talking about but she was fine...my sister, who knew the entire story and songs but never saw it, cried at that part and told me she was thought Saycon was phenomenal. Ooh, I could also tell she seemed to have some hidden dance talent in the few bits of dancing she did. She also knocked the hell out of the last note of As Long As You're Mine, not one that usually catches me. And in No Good Deed, she emphasized the DO as opposed to AAAAAGAIN, again nice to hear difference, but definitely liked her voice, they all have different but I like them all. In terms of the portrayal, she definitely emphasized the angrier, stronger side of Elphie, she really had it from Defying Gravity and all of the second act. So yeah nice to see all the interpretations. I have a soft spot for Idina but these ladies can certainly hold their own.

Stacy-I also respect her for having her own approach to Glinda, I saw LBB as Glinda and just hated how much she was trying to be Kristin. Stacy was certainly getting her laughs at times and did have a very nice soprano voice. I don't know if I can explain this right, but she talked...slower than Kristen or Jenn. Not in a dragging way, just something I noticed. She was adequate, would have liked to see Meghan, but I think did a very decent job as the understudy.

Ooh, one more note. During "For Good," I dunno, maybe it was just really getting into it, but I could have sworn that both of them were crying. I could hear it interfering with their singing, they missed a line or two, I told my sis, she said they were just acting, but it def seemed more like crying than any other Wicked performance I saw. Anyways...

Just figured I'd mention the two of them. Ooh, funny story at the stage door. Michelle came out and was signing and she looked to the right and said "Norbert" and I looked and saw him(interesting) so I kinda just out of wow I saw him earlier today and it was weird shouted oh wow Norbert and poor Norbie people kinda heard me and he already got asked to take two pics and then snuck in the stage door, totally understandable, he def had a long day. I felt guilty...oh well.

Very fun day. I love Wicked.

Michelle is Nessa.

From what you desribed Saycon doing, it's exactly what Shoshana does. She's changed/improved temendously from the 9th. Her Wiz & I brought tears to my eyes (sho), and the audience gave it a good minute and a half ovation (beg. of april).

I was at the matinee show yesterday and I saw Shoshana kept coughing but I did't think it was horrible. I couldn't really tell she was sick. When she didn't come out of the stage door though, I knew something was up because she wrote on one of her Q & A's "I always come out of the stage door except for whem I'm really sick" (not exact quote but something like that).

I thought Stacie was an "ok" Glinda. Not the best (deffinetly), but I don't think she was too horrible. Like wickedrent q said before, she did get laughs, but she really didn't get a lot. She has a really nice singing voice but she just isn't the "perfect" Glinda.

Somebody said that they spoke to Megan Hilty on Tuesday night and she said that she and Stacie would be switching on and off who would be the role of Glinda since JLT is on vacation this week. I personally find that a very good idea because Stacie does need practice!

Norbert is divorced and has two daughters. He and Michelle are dating.
