Let's just hope it's more successful than "It's A Bird, It's a Plane, It's SUPERMAN THE MUSICAL"

good lord, i'm gonna be sick. not another one.

There are some people in the world who say that writing stories, or composing music or dancing sparkly dances is easy for them. Nothing interferes with their ability to create. While I celebrate their creative freedom, a little part of me just wants to punch those motherf*ckers in the teeth...[tos]

When Stan Lee was in charge at Marvel he REALLY wanted to see this happening. Although having Bono and The Edge writing music makes it all the more strange.

And I still contend that if done smartly, Batman is a good idea for a musical.

Let 'em write it. Who cares? Chances are it'll never make it past the development stage anyway.

I can't wait to see Spiderman flying over the audience. Y'all think they'll get Cathy Rigby for the part?

Playbill even has a ropeort on it, what has the world come to. Though if they did it right the "flying" portion of the show could be cool!!!

I didn't even think of that- it would take one insanely agile and athletic actor to do all the wirework for that part.

Or maybe they'll use puppets. :) I'm sure Julie Taymor can come up with something cool. Updated On: 7/8/04 at 11:17 AM

I think this is a really good idea. I think Bono will do a good job with the score. Im excited to see what Julie Taymore comes up with. It could be really cool

As I posted on another message board:

Not putting a vote for or against, but from what I understand, the touring stunt show did very well on the road. And if they can make Peter Pan fly, they certainly can have a Spider-Man who swings from a web. It's a much easier effect to pull off I would imagine since you don't have to "hide" the cable.

I understand people's complaints about films being made into musicals but let's wait until there's a book, score, etc before it's cast off as being a bad idea.

This isn't directed at the original poster, but (on a slightly different note) I was greatly amused by all the vitriol and comments before CHICAGO came out based on casting, etc and then even more amused by the same people posting how CHICAGO was the end all - be all of movie musicals after they saw it. People are, of course, entitled to change their opinions. As for pulling Spider-Man off, who would have thought years ago that a helicopter, car, witch or boy could fly?

I can't see this! I was never a fan of Spiderman, so this is just kind of bad. I really can't see Spiderman breaking out into song. Can you see that?? It's almost as bad as Frodo and the rest of the Middle Earth hobbits singing...

Yuck. I hope this never hits the US.

Spiderman is as much a mythical hero as Peter Pan was once (to some people) with an actual storyline and characters

it was a comic book long before it was a movie, which for some reason, is still considered sacrileage to some...

from the first time a caveman uttered "Ugh" to three other cavemen, good storytelling was good storytelling, and that is what makes a successful show, movie, book or campfire.

And the team that is reported is an incredibly talented one

How bout you put all this anguish into something like...the election!!

love ya!

Taymor has officially turned into the biggest whore in New York theater.

Bleh! It already sounds bad. If it does happen, i can see it as peter pan, with a skin tight suit, and more flashing lights and specticle.

Amen.

Look- in the abstract, why is a musical about Spider-Man any more preposterous than one about a cannibal barber? Why are singing cowboys, witches, or dirty old ladies any better or worse than singing superheroes? People don't burst into song in real life- the creators and performers have to pull the audience into a theatrical reality where that can happen. It's all in the execution.
