Posted: 6/6/09 at 9:18pmMe too! I hope this is just a temporary glitch. I spent a lot of time the last year or so updating recordings, correcting catalog numbers, release dates etc.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

I was also literally just on it last night.. Slightly off topic but I was looking at the recordings for Bounce/Road show and I noticed there is a recording listed for WISE GUYS with Victor Garber, Nathan Lane etc..
Was this a studio recording? I heard there was a promotional recording of the show, was this it?
Now on topic, there has been SO much work put into castalbums.org it would be devastating if it was all lost.

Posted: 6/7/09 at 12:46amThe site allows for listings of certain bootlegs (If they are of historic/important shows) but also may collectors catalog their home-made CD's and sometimes to get them past the admins try to make them look like limited edition releases.

Press Ctrl+F5...
It still is a generic splash page with the title "music download mp3 player" etc.. at the top, as if the domain has expired.

Command+Shift+R for OS X.
Again, I can't see how it is working for anyone (If they are aware of the site that is, it still loads to as I said a generic splash page)

Posted: 6/7/09 at 1:28amYou mean to refresh? F5 works. On a laptop you would just hit fn + F5.
#10re: castalbums.org
Posted: 6/7/09 at 1:34amThe difference between CTRL+F5 and F5 is that CTRL+F5 will completely reload the page while F5 may still keep some items cached (AFAIK), hence if for some strange reason people are seeing the old page even after refreshing CTRL+F5 should fix it..

#13re: castalbums.org
Posted: 6/7/09 at 2:11amI think Hitormiss is his castalbums.org name, but not his address. And, yes it probably would not be cool to post it publicly with some of the "good and crazy" characters we have running around here.

Posted: 6/7/09 at 2:53amYou can access his e-mail through the WHOIS data of the domain. I e-mailed him (no response yet), though it looks like it is still registered (expires in 2010), so there could be other issues.

According to Matt, who runs castalbums.org (via CASTRECL):
Long story short, I'm worried we may not get the castalbums.org domain back, so the site is now running on a new domain: http://castalbumcollector.com

Posted: 9/11/10 at 2:03pmCould somebody explain to me how this site is supposed to work? I clicked on an album to add it to my collection, but I don't get an order form or a download or anything. I can't find anything that explains what is supposed to happen, or how this is to be used.

You don't get albums from the website. It's a website to keep a catalogue of the albums you already own.

There are links that take you to Amazon and other sites to purchase currently available titles, but older Lp's and 78's must be sought through private dealers or E-bay.
What it is is a terrific resource to find out what shows were recorded and released. They also list a lot of bootlegs, which probably should not be listed because they are not generally available but after all they do exist.
