Anyone listen to the album? Rachel sounds great. Anyone who knows better than me know if these are the original orchestrations or expanded? I can’t tell.

Bless whoever conceived/wrote/orchestrated this new overture.

Am I nuts for thinking the tempo was faster in the theatre? This version sounds a bit more sluggish as opposed to its usual punchiness. I compared it to my audio slime and I definitely perceive a difference"

The length of the song, studio vs live, is practically identical on my end. I don't think it's slower.

I’m so glad they did this right and gave us a complete recording of the score as presented in this production instead of highlights to fit on one CD.

Is the album art really just going to be the production photo they’re using for the pre-save?

It would be interesting to see what Sher and LCT would do with the piece since every single production seems to be different. I’ve never seen two Show Boats use the same song stack. There’s always songs getting added, cut and shuffled around.

I don’t mind them using a different font than the more traditional Rocky Horror look, it’s just the warping that makes it look like 80s Microsoft Word. Maybe that’s what they were going for.

Maybe they’re just trying to keep all their bases covered with this title? Didn’t MTI have to change the contract a while back to specify which characters are black because a theatre performed Hairspray in blackface?

I’m actually surprised this hasn’t happened yet.

To me it’s about intent. The show is called Gypsy because her name was Gypsy Rose Lee, not because anyone is intentionally trying to offend the Roma and Sinti people. It’s a period piece and at this time in history it was culturally acceptable to use that word. Changing it censors history. Absolutely include a note in the program about the usage of the word as they have done on their website, but I see no reason to change the title.

I wasn’t joking necessarily. Sometimes albums are recorded and released in 4 to 6 weeks and other times it does seem like producers will hold back a release a few weeks or months for some sort of strategic reason even though we all know it’s not really taking that long to finish it.

What did you use to listen to it? I’m not hearing it. The chorus on the entire album and the orchestra at times lack clarity.

This will be a new musical adaptation right? This is not the previous stage version which was essentially a play with music as others have described? But I’m assuming it’s largely or entirely a jukebox musical because I don’t see any mention of a composer or songwriters at the moment.
