How much do you want to bet Lea Michele will be Eponine? I could also see them go for Anne Hathaway as Cosette or Fantine...I just hope they throw in a few real musical theater people in there in addition to whatever star power they decide they need. I swear, if they put in that Jonas Brother I will be livid. He looked like a not very talented high school actor next to all the greats at the anniversary concert.

@LizzieCurry I am smart enough to know I've been insulted and sexy enough not to care!

Lea Michele would be too obvious for Eponine.

Personally I'd love to see Sierra Boggess play Fantine at some point in her career. It dosen't have to be the film.

Ah, so if I understand correctly Lizzy, Aida Man is threatening the X-eyed Cow with a club while an unknown force puts an arrow over him?
		     			Fantine-Joss Stone
Madame Thenardier-Jane Horrocks
Thenardier-Timothy Spall
Enjolras-Gerard Butler
Marius-Aaron Tveit
Eponine-Amy Winehouse
Cosette-Jennifer Damiano

except I would cast Butler as Jean and Jackman as Enjolras

Lea was a mediocre Eponine at the Hollywood Bowl. I'm sure she'll be in the running, but I hope for all our sakes that she isn't cast.

Just throwing this out there: Jake Gyllenhaal for Enjolras.

You have GOT to be kidding.

@VonTussleGirl I for one loved her voice when she sang "On My Own"

So did every stray dog within a three mile radius.

From the box seats it felt a bit like being assaulted. We get it, Lea. You emote.

I never heard of Joss Stone until I saw her in The Tudors and then I youtubed her... that is an excellent suggestion for Fantine!!!
		     			thanks, eatlasagna,

I had the opposite experience from you with Joss Stone. I knew her recordings and loved her voice. When I saw the woman playing Anne of Cleves in The Tudors I was very impressed, and when I discovered it was the same girl with that amazing voice I was floored.

I hope I am just as impressed when I hear Paul Bettany sing as I was when I saw Joss Stone act.

Curious why so many people here are not casting singers (Keira Knightley? Kate Winslet?). It is after all a musical and one that requires more than actors with only a modicum of musicality.

		     			Jean Valjean: Hugh Jackman
Javert: Paul Bettany
Fantine: Kerry Ellis
Madame Thenardier: Tracey Ullman
Thenardier: Hugh Laurie
Enjolras: Hadley Fraser
Marius: Josh Groban
Eponine: Astrid Berges-Frisbey
Cosette: Sierra Boggess

This is my updated cast. Take it or leave it.

		     			Jean Valjean: Hugh Jackman
Javert: Paul Bettany
Fantine: Anne Hathaway
Madame Thenardier: Kathy Bates
Thenardier: Hugh Laurie

I don't expect it to happen, but I would cast relative unknowns in the younger parts.

I can't see Anne Hathaway as Fantine even if I do love her work.
If Anne Hathaway is anybody, she'll be Cosette, I think. She's too perky for Fantine and not scruffy enough for Eponine.

I'm sure Nick Jonas doesn't have a chance at Marius after the critical drubbing he got at the O2 show. How about Darren Criss from Glee? Or I can see them going with Zac Efron maybe.

I'm hoping for Ramin Karimloo as Enjolras but they might go Hollywood with that role.

Really hoping no Disney actors! I too would like to see Ramin as Enjolras, and I love the idea of Darren Criss as Marius!
Marion Cotillard must play Fantine.

D'accord -- Marion Cotillard as Fantine!

This is a story in France by its arguably most famous literary personage, Victor Hugo -- I would like to see someone like Marion portray a French character.

How about major cameos for actors from the original London production -- Colm Wilkinson as the Bishop, Michael Ball as Thernardier ( he was excellent as Count Fosco in The Woman in White), maybe Frances Ruffelle in a comedic turn as Madame Thenardier ( after all, Eponine, whom she originally portrayed, is the daughter of the Thenardiers )?
)?

Zac Efron as either Enjolras or Marius?

Amanda Seyfried as Eponine?

Marion would be lovely. If we're talking French actors, how about Melanie Laurent as a prospect for Eponine? She's a singer and during the cafe scene in Inglourious Basterds, I couldn't stop laughing at how much she looked like she was about to break into On My Own.

Do yourself a favor...rent Rachel Getting Married.

Cotillard is too old for Fantine.

Kate Winslet is too old for Fantine, too. Fantine is in her 20s.

What about Bryce Dallas Howard for Cosette? I saw that suggestion once and liked it.

WHO in their RIGHT MIND suggested SELENA GOMEZ to play a role in this film?! Girl CANNOT SING! That's almost as bad as casting Nick Jonas as Marius!
