How much do you want to bet Lea Michele will be Eponine? I could also see them go for Anne Hathaway as Cosette or Fantine...I just hope they throw in a few real musical theater people in there in addition to whatever star power they decide they need. I swear, if they put in that Jonas Brother I will be livid. He looked like a not very talented high school actor next to all the greats at the anniversary concert.
I had the opposite experience from you with Joss Stone. I knew her recordings and loved her voice. When I saw the woman playing Anne of Cleves in The Tudors I was very impressed, and when I discovered it was the same girl with that amazing voice I was floored.
I hope I am just as impressed when I hear Paul Bettany sing as I was when I saw Joss Stone act.
Curious why so many people here are not casting singers (Keira Knightley? Kate Winslet?). It is after all a musical and one that requires more than actors with only a modicum of musicality.
If Anne Hathaway is anybody, she'll be Cosette, I think. She's too perky for Fantine and not scruffy enough for Eponine.
I'm sure Nick Jonas doesn't have a chance at Marius after the critical drubbing he got at the O2 show. How about Darren Criss from Glee? Or I can see them going with Zac Efron maybe.
I'm hoping for Ramin Karimloo as Enjolras but they might go Hollywood with that role.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
This is a story in France by its arguably most famous literary personage, Victor Hugo -- I would like to see someone like Marion portray a French character.
How about major cameos for actors from the original London production -- Colm Wilkinson as the Bishop, Michael Ball as Thernardier ( he was excellent as Count Fosco in The Woman in White), maybe Frances Ruffelle in a comedic turn as Madame Thenardier ( after all, Eponine, whom she originally portrayed, is the daughter of the Thenardiers )?
Marion would be lovely. If we're talking French actors, how about Melanie Laurent as a prospect for Eponine? She's a singer and during the cafe scene in Inglourious Basterds, I couldn't stop laughing at how much she looked like she was about to break into On My Own.
