It looks and sounds incredible!
Jesse Green at New York Magazine, a critic I usually appreciate, gave this a negative review, his odd point seeming to be that those Japanese just don't understand American musicals. http://www.vulture.com/2016/07/theater-review-all-female-all-japanese-chicago.html
I caught the final performance yesterday and holy crap, that was fun! The show is the show we know at the Ambassador--I'm very familiar with it, so it never shocks me and isn't new, but it was worth it for the encore alone. That was absolutely ridiculous in the best way possible. It was pure spectacle. Very Vegas showgirl-esque, but it was fabulously done.
I don't know much Japanese beyond Toyota, sushi, and Hello Kitty, but it was very entertaining to watch. The dancing, especially, was very sharp and clean.

I was also at yesterday's performance--too bad we didn't meet up. Drove all the way from MA so had my hopes set high--at least I got rush tickets. It was good but I think the language distanced me and fact that I'd seen it before made it a bit of a letdown. The fact that they were all women didn't really add to novelty-- maybe because they did their job so well I wouldn't have known. Glad I went for the experience but wish I hadn't gone so much out of my way for it.
