As I recall, "Old Devil Moon" is sung by both the female and male leads, Woody and Sharon, in Act I, while they are falling in love. I definitely remember hearing both Ella Logan and Donald Richards sing it on the original cast album. I did this show in community theater many years ago, and it's a lot of fun. As I recall, we did the Senator's transformation scene by using lighting effects and maybe some smoke to conceal him for a moment, while he pulled on a blackface mask. He might have had blackface makeup on his hands, too, with gloves on over them, so during the "transformation" he just took the gloves off. The only role I find sort of irritating in this show is Og the leprochaun--I like his song "When I'm Not Near The Girl I Love," but "Something Sort of Grandish" is just too cute for me. Karen
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
When I saw it with Kerry O'Malley, I could have sworn she went into her head voice on the climatic "Full of Butterflies INSIIIIIIIIIIIDE!" Could be wrong.
