I love any thread about Dorothy Loudon! She was one of the dearest, sweetest people I've ever had the pleasure of working with. The first time I met her was on the Night Of The Hunter recording - we bonded instantly, and I just loved and adored her from the second she walked in. She had a terrible bronchial problem on that session, and she was very nervous about everything, but I calmed her and talked her through it and she came through with her usual brilliance.

After that, we did the No Time At All track on the Schwartz CD and I'm Still Here on the Stephen Sondheim Album. We always went to Joe Allen after the session, where she'd always have a cheeseburger. She was going to do the Whatever Happened To Baby Jane song (in a duet with Remy Zaken - this was three years ago, I think, before Remy had done anything), but was too sick and she bowed out just before the recording (we ended up using Katherine Helmond). She passed away a few weeks later. I miss her and think about her often.

See if you can find a video of her singing Ira Gershwin's "Vodka."

Priceless.
