iTunes & IPod

this is a theater related post. I'm curious if anyone has any personal experience with software that will convert DVDs into a format for iTunes to play on my iPod??
There are a few Sondheim shows I would like to put on my iTunes for easy access.
Anyone have good advice? I googled a few, but never now what to trust

Handbrake.

Not sure about PC, but the Mac version works like a dream.

Do you already have the files as a VOB format? Again for mac, iSquint is fantastic for converting VOB's into MP4.

For PC, I use software from www.pqdvd.com and it works great. It costs like $30, but I think it's worth it.
