I am producing a play which I would like to add a couple songs to. It is a play about death and a man who murders several of his friends. The songs will be sung by the people who are killed. I am looking for suggestions on songs (that are fairly recognizable for a moderately theatre savvy audience) that can be sung by or adapted to an ensemble setting such as:
The New World: Songs for a New World
Hear My Song: Songs for a New World
Tomorrow Belongs to Me: Cabaret
Somewhere: West Side Story
Purple Summer: Spring Awakening
Those You've Known: Spring Awakening
Love Heals: Rent film
Light: Next to Normal

Any suggestions are welcomed and appreciated!
Thanks!

There's alway the perennial "You'll Never Walk Alone" (CAROUSEL).

Would "Something's Coming" from WEST SIDE STORY work?

What period is this play set in?

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
