Gabrielle Ruiz is on for the rest of this week and then Courtney Reed (who's the best Vanessa I've ever seen) is on from the 12-25. No idea what's happening after that
I saw the show last night and Gabrielle Ruiz was on as Vanessa (she was very very good) and Courtney Reed was listed as the full-time Vanessa, but yeah I had no idea Marcy had left.
Courtney was on for Vanessa for two full weeks before she was listed as the principal.
Pretty sure she hasn't. After Reed is on until July 25, Harriell will be returning.
For those who don't know, if an understudy is on for an extended period of time, they have to be listed as principle... or something like that.
I just read elsewhere that she's probably coming back on the 26--we'll see though.

In the PLAYBILL, not the site, & they must be put on a principle contract.

I'm surprised that adamgreer is the only one celebrating Marcy's leaving, since she apparently isn't liked by many.
I just looked at the online cast listing, and it looks like they got a lot of new cast member since I was there in April.
I like Marcy Harriell just not as "Vanessa" in IN THE HEIGHTS. I personally think she's a little long in the tooth for that role and she comes off as older opposite Corbin Bleu, which doesn't work in her favor. She just doesn't have that *it* factor that Karen Olivo has. While we are on the subject of Olivo I hope and pray she gets to reprise her "Vanessa" for the upcoming IN THE HEIGHTS film.

I know this is blasphemy but I kind of hope that the only people that transfer from stage to screen is Lin and Abuela Claudia. I think there is enough singing/acting Latino/Hispanic talent out there to fill those roles. I'm praying for Jennifer Lopez to play Andrea's role. She would be hilarious.

I'm not. Here's to hoping Sofia Vergara gets it.
I'm sure Lin will have a lot to with the casting of the roles so I'm sure he'll select performers who will do justice to the characters they will be portraying. This is his baby and he's going to see to it that it's gets represented in the best possible way since the film is going to be what will live on long after the stage version closes. I'm not going to go on a speculation spree on who should/shouldn't be in this. All I know is he knows a lot of talented people and I'm pretty sure he's going to use his resources including those he has worked with in the past.
