DREAMGIRLS is finally returning to Broadway

Am I wrong for wanting a reproduction of the original 1981 production so that this new generation can experience what we did back then?

So that they will witness what made this show so legendary?

Am I wrong?

It played there for six weeks before moving to the UA Cinema Center, a sister theater. The reason it caught on in Los Angeles was simple: the show already had a huge local following thanks to the stage production that had played at the Roxy Theatre on the Strip. That’s actually not true. It was a huge flop when it was released in 1975 and call outs began sometime in the late 70s when the movie began being shown at midnight screenings.

It actually is true. It won the Evening Standard Best Musicalaward the year it premieredand was a smash hit all over London. A massi

Joy Woods as Sally Bowles

Hmmm, kind of on the fence about Woods as "Sally Bowles", her "Louise/Gypsy" left a lot to be desired. I would rather see Rachel Zegler in the part.

The Rocky Horror Show Playbill Design

You might want to rethink the shows you chose to make your point. Of the five you listed, one hasn’t had a proper Broadway revival since its original 1981 production.

Dreamgirls has had zero Broadway revivals since 1981—the national tour’s brie
