According to Playbill.com, the Broadway-bound, Jason Robert Brown musical, THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY, opens tonight at the Williamstown Theatre Festival following a couple preview performances Thursday and Friday.
Does anyone have plans to see it? I'm dying to hear what people think of the production (especially the score!).
I made a last minute spontaneous trip and am so glad I did. JRB's work here totally blew me away, and the cast was nothing short of spectacular. I know there's another thread discussing the Elena Shaddow/Kelli O'Hara comparison, and I don't think it's fair to talk about O'Hara's performance before she's given it, but Shaddow was stunning. The whole evening, I was hoping against hope that I can somehow get hold of a bootleg, because the characterization in her vocal choices was so poignant and beautiful. Steven Pasquale as well. I hesitated to go all the way up from the city when the show will be here in January, but it was absolutely worth it, even with the issues that come with it being early in development.
