Aladdin is finally discounted on TodayTix.  What took them so long to finally offer discounted prices?  From what I have seen, their grosses aren't doing so poorly week after week.  So why have they started discounting their tickets?  Is it a time limit where they start discounting after a certain amount of weeks? or are they at the point where they need discounts to sell more tickets?

The Book of Mormon hasn't reached the point where they need to discount tickets, so is it safe to say that Aladdin is starting to decline?  I wonder how much longer before TBOM begins to discount?

I suggest BOM will be more like Wicked and Lion King and not discount.

Looking at what TT has, it barely seems discounted - and some listings it isn't.

To discount or not is simply up to the producers.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Todaytix has successfully fooled you into thinking all the tickets they sell are discounted.

There is no discount on the Aladdin tickets. They are the same price you can buy them at the box office plus a $10 fee for Todaytix to do that for you. Or for that same $10 fee you can buy them from Ticketmaster and choose your own seat.

If there is any slight price difference it would be due to Aladdin's dynamic pricing where they frequently change the price of tickets based on supply and demand. Which is why I'm guessing Todaytix hasn't offered tickets for it for a while, but I guess now they have someone to monitor the prices all day.

Honestly, the prices on today tix are pretty much the same as regular full price tickets on ticketmaster, give or take a little bit.

TodayTix is a broker. If it shows up on TodayTix, it means they bought the tickets from the box office and are re-selling them to you.

Exactly. I find today tix to be completely unnecessary except for lottery purposes. I'd so much rather shows either do in person lotteries or on their own site like Something Rotten.

Although I agree that Todaytix often seems of limited benefit, they are not a broker but an agent of producers. They do offer producers another marketing outlet (and at a lower outlay) and they do offer buyers a much more agile interface (although at the expense of seat selection).

A broker is a person who buys or sells assets for others. Therefore they are a broker.

neon, please. a ticket broker is a person who buys tickets and sells them (hopefully, from their standpoint) at a higher price. Todaytix does not buy tickets. On your theory, telecharge and ticketmaster are brokers.

By definition, yes. You don't have to agree.

LOL. well i don't, and neither would any court. some things, as I am fond of telling Pinto, are facts, and not susceptible to one's opinions.

Court? We're not in court. This is a message board. You take yourself awfully seriously.

Well, it is true that some things are facts. The FACT is todaytix is NOT a broker. By definition and by law they are not a broker. There is no agreement or disagreement about it.

"This is a message board."

On that we agree. But I don't understand why it is cool to post incorrect information on a message board. If you told me that if I am running late for the theatre tonight I shouldn't worry because they will happily start it over again when i get there, do you think that's cool too? People come here looking for (correct) information about ticket buying. Many of those people do not want to buy from a broker, for obvious reasons. It is thus pretty important that those people understand that TodaysTix (or Stubhub, or Telecharge, or Ticketmaster)  are NOT brokers, and that Broadway.com (and NYTickets et al) ARE brokers. Is that "awfully serious"? No, in the overall scheme of things, it is less serious than being told to take tylenol to cure cancer, but in the message board scheme of things a lot of people do not want to be led astray, and some of them genuinely want to understand the playing field. You said something that was wrong; you were corrected; it is now time for you to lick your wounds and go on to something else, hopefully that you can say with more authority.

There are no wounds, but you have an awfully high horse.

What I would get off on is if folks did not post incorrect information. Btw only 11-13% of my posts are correcting people, and that number is way up since you arrived. But I am optimistic you may be getting a little better.
