In an article last week Riedel mentioned From Here to Eternity had investors going up to Maine to watch the new version of the show. Could this be another musical that slips in this season or next?

Tim Rice obviously cares greatly about this show as he has continually worked on it for years with developing new versions of it. It never made sense that this show opened in London in the first place. It's about American Soldiers in the 40's. Definitely a patriotic show and lord knows we could use some American Pride right about now. With the positive and rave reviews from Maine do you think we will see more of this show?

I saw this at The Finger Lakes.  It goes back to the author's original book.  Not based on the sanitized book that was released or the movie.  The biggest change is the Pvt. Maggio character is bisexual. So, the plot revolves around getting caught in a gay bar.

The show moves pretty slowly.  I would have thought the bar scenes would have provided ample time for some great swing dance scenes, but nothing like that occurs.  The show is just too understated.

I heard Tim Rice on Riedels On The Town and he said that a big production of From Here To Eternity was heading for Broadway. I agree this is just the sort of patriotic show that we could do with now. It’s such a great American story. I wonder who they will cast in the James Dean like lead role of Robert E Lee Prewitt? Any thoughts?

Hopefully, it's an entirely different show.  I attended the broadcast of the London production and left at intermission.  I was looking forward to seeing it, but it was laughably bad.

The brilliant movie of the London production of From Here To Eternity is now available to stream via Broadway HD. Here is a link.

It’s a such a terrific musical, a great story, grown up and gritty. It’s not at all what you expect. It has such a great score. Songs like Fight the Fight, Thirty Year Man, Love Me Forever Today, Aint Where I Wanna Be Blues, More Than America & the awesome Boys of 41 are just out and out classics. I really do hope From Here To Eternity comes to Broadway soon!
