BOMBAY DREAMS arrives on Broadway March 29, 2004 and one lucky winner will have their own “theater party”, and get to see its Broadway debut. In addition, the grand prize includes a script of BOMBAY DREAMS autographed by the cast of the Broadway show and a copy of the Original London Cast Recording!
People need to realize that this is a BOLLYWOOD film. If one sees Bombay Dreams as some Sondheim musical that has complex layers of story line then one will be dissapointed. Go for the sheer delight that Bollywood films bring to you. I adore Bollywood and for one am looking forward to seeing this show!
I just wanted to say to please give this wonderful show a chance. Just go with an open mind, and it will most likely be a pleasant surprise.
I have seen the show twice in London, and the *music*, the sounds, the costumes, the colors, the energy, the story, the characters, are all fantastic!
I also have the "Making of Bombay Dreams" DVD, and the original idea for the show was concieved by Andrew Lloyd Webber, but the music is composed by A. R. Rahman, who is a very successful composer in India. He writes the music for quite a lot of the Bollywood movies, and he has won many awards in India.
If you like traveling, as I do, you can sort of look at the show as a 'mini' holiday to India!
It does help if you have an open mind, however.
Love, Faith2 A Phantom Lover (..and also and a Lord Lloyd Webber Lover) LOL!
There is a curious paradox that no one can explain;
Who understands the secret of the reaping of the grain,
Who understands why spring is born out of winter's laboring pain,
Or why we all must die a bit before we grow again.
