Posted: 4/7/04 at 10:26pmThis lady blows me away whenever I listen to Side Show, especially in "Tunnel of Love." SHE CAN BELT! I would love to see her originate another role on Broadway soon. How do you feel about her? Agree?

Posted: 4/7/04 at 10:29pmLOVE Emily! I've been lucky enough to see her in THE FULL MONTY and NO STRINGS (Encores!) in New York and COMPANY and MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG at the Kennedy Center in DC. Great voice and wonderful comic timing. Come back to Broadway soon!

Posted: 4/8/04 at 12:15pmShe was so amazing in both Company and Merrily, like i can't even explain. I've seen her in so many things and her solo album (and duet albums w/ ALice) are brilliant. I would love to see her in a starring role, revival or original just something were the lead is a woman and she could just do her thing. she is SO good. okie doke.

Whoa, where IS Bethy?
And yes, Emily needs to get back and do something awesome on Broadway *now*. Pardon My English should've been enough for her to be offered something substantial. :)

Like Patti, Emily Skinner is a force. Producers don't know what to do with either of them. (Excuse me, Patti in "Gypsy," Emily as Ruth in "Wonderful Town?")So, like the smart cookies both divas are, they do straight roles and hone their acting skills. I sincerely believe Emily was the best thing in "Dinner at Eight" at Lincoln Center. It was a big brave gutsy performace, that could have gotten her killed and she went for it head on anyway.
The weight gain thing is intersting. At first I thought she did it to get the soubrette roles she does so magnificiently. Then I realized she's probably been dieting like crazy her whole professional life and just sad: "Fk it, They ain't ever gonna cast me as Marian The Librarian, anyway. Bring on the canoles!"
Everybody loves Em, don't they?
Kisses,
Gladys

Posted: 4/9/04 at 2:07pmI like her a lot. Her voice is so rich and pure, but it also has an edge to her, plus she seems hilarious! I LOVE her CDs w/ Alice Ripley-'specially "Sisters", "Friendship" "Unsuspecting hearts" and my favorite "Alto's Lament". Is there sheet music for that anywhere?

Mwahaha... well, she may be a hobag, but there's no denying she IS a force to be reckoned with. ![]()
I can't see her as Ruth, either... she's too glamorous. It would be one of those moments where you say, "But that doesn't make sense... she's PRETTIER than Eileen... what the hell???" Yeah, I couldn't buy her as the sister everyone passes by... she doesn't have the right look for Ruth, though she could sing the f*ck out of 100 Easy Ways.
Alto's Lament... interesting you should mention the sheet music for that... I'm actually attempting to get my hands on a copy myself (well, someone is attempting to get their hands on a copy for me), but I don't think it's actually in print... I don't honestly know. I know one person who has a copy and that's the aforementioned person in this post. LOL. I had a copy YEARS ago but I lost it... I'm sure its floating around SOMEWHERE.
Do we know who else has recorded this song? I know it's recorded on some other CD... hmmmmm....
And Sabrelady... I feared for my soul sitting in the audience of Albertine... FEARED... SOUL...
Her breasts could have devoured the entire audience... her incessant need to fondle them was indeed a scarring experience in my case. The show on a whole was... bad... however, when a single song lyric is the sole cause of nightmares concerning Emily as a big giant thigh, that's when you know it's crossed a line.

And Gladys... haha... yes, Em... likes... her food. But don't we all? :)
I actually have a picture of us in front of McDonald's that has yet to be developed... *ahem, Miss Librarian... gonna develop it one of these days?
* If we (well, basically if I...) don't look TOO bad, maybe I'll post it in the fan photo section. And if it doesn't come out, next time we pass by a McDonald's, then by all means, I'll make the woman take another picture with me... (though I prefer Wendy's, but there just ain't enough of them in Manhattan)!

Posted: 4/11/04 at 5:21pmemily skinner was in the last encores' pardon my english. i'm not sure but maybe karen ziemba is doing another encores show in the near future. maybe that's the connection ur thinking of. it's all so incestuous! seriously, i too am looking forward to the broadway musicals of 1949. too bad jeff mccarthy had to cancel. but now there is robert westenberg (into the woods). and of course, cady huffman.
