Anyone know a good way to make realistic cigarettes on stage to actually produce smoke? I'm direting CABARET and would like to incorporate it, but due to the intimacy of the theater/fire codes.. we can't have real cigarettes in the theater. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I think there are herbal cigars/cigarettes you can buy. Not too sure though...
Good Luck!

Posted: 4/30/06 at 4:21pmlol- It is hard to put on Cabaret without cigarettes....Herbal cigarettes are still real ,but just easier on actor's throats and not as addictive. Spencers does sell fake ones that my school has used in many performances.

the cigarette issue is not always one of personal health or values. Local theatre groups often do not allow cigarettes onstage simply because they are a potential fire hazard.
www.thecostumer.com also sells the same fake cigarettes if you do not have a Spencers Retailer in your area.

I just finished directing CABARET, and I used some really great fake cigarettes from http://www.sisterfun.com. They are about 75 cents for a set of two.
