I wonder who will be lucky enough to play Patrick Dennis if it comes to Broadway.

Although I love Jerry Herman musicals and wish this production of MAME well, I have to join others who feel Baranski is ideal of the role. People forget that Mame Dennis is an elegant lady and the more elegant she is, the funnier the character becomes. Lansbury was sensational because of this.
I'd love to see Joan Collins or Diana Rigg play Mame. Maybe even Juliet Mills.

Never thought I would agree with Dolly but when he's right he is right
Baranski should be great & after being in a few turkeys, she deserves a hit.

It wasn't an ideal production at Paper Mill a few years ago, but even Christine Ebersole couldn't make it work (and something about her still seems better suited to the role than Christine Baranski).
