The Nightmare Before Christmas Onstage?

Yes, I highly doubt it'll ever happen, but it's a cult classic and fun to dream about...

So, if TNBC ever had a Broadway incarnation, who'd be in your dream cast? I'm really feeling Kevin Cahoon as Jack right now.

It's been done onstage...Emerson College did it once. Heavy on blacklight.

id love to see it done on stage, but alot has been said in past topics about jack's proportions and how that would work on stage. I could see Kevin doing it.

re: The Nightmare Before Christmas Onstage?

It would make a nice engagement run from like October(maybe September)-January...and it could return each year like I heard the Grinch will be doing....I would hope they would record it if they do ever decide to put it up!

I could see it. People would have to put the image of the movie out of their mind though. They couldn't get someone to actually LOOK like Jack did in the movie. That's impossible. I could see Raul Esparza playing Jack though.

The show would have to be REALLY well thought out and a little different from the movie. I would like to see it, but I doubt it will ever happen.

Maybe they'll just write it as a movie musical and get burton to direct like he is doing in Sweeney. Oh wait....

re: The Nightmare Before Christmas Onstage?

This would make my life!! I'm trying to make a list of actors and actresses who could play Jack, Oogie, and Sally. I'll report back later if I find write anything interesting.

It would be inspired, the music is brilliant, and if staged correctly, it would be amazing. Casting it would be kind of hard, but they could do something with puppets and it might work.

I can see Kevin as Jack - Definitely !!

And Seldes, Lansbury, and Stritch as Lock, Shock & Barrel !!

Kidding aside.... Kevin as Jack would definitely work !!

Kevin Cahoon - Jack
Harvey Fierstein - Oogie
Anneliese van der Pol - Sally
Tim Jerome - Santa
Jennifer Cody, Mark Price and Howie Michale Smith - Lock, Stock and Barrel

I can't think of any others.

As much as I love Kevin Cahoon, he's on the short side, and I think it's more important that Jack is tall than skinny. The costume can do a lot, and on stage, he'd abviously be more of a ghoul than a skeleton.

Maybe Terrence Mann?

Yes, we did it my senior year at Emerson. It actually came across quite well considering it could have been a huge train wreck. Our Jack wasn't too tall nor skinny but his make-up and prostethics are what made him look fantastic.

I don't get it. Tim Burton didn't direct Nightmare Before Christmas.

I just read the credits for the movie on IMDB...i never noticed that was Ken Page as Oogie! lol. Or that Danny Elfman was the singing voice for Jack.

But Tobiasragg, Burton didn't direct it. He just came up with the story.

Yes, and despite the fact that I currently attend said college and know several hard core theatre majors, I have never seen pics of this production, just that it existed.
