NYTimes Tony Award Predictions

At least both productions are great and deserving.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/31/26

SteveSanders said: "Fred Mason said: "People are abandoning Broadway and just going to Lincoln Center now. The opera and ballet and philharmonic have never been fuller. LCT seems to be benefiting from this too."

Are these supposed people there in the room with you right now?

Anyone who thinks the opera is doing well is delusional.

Reimagined THE FANTASTICKS will open on Broadway this fall

John Adams said: "blaxx said: "See before you judge."

There is no judgment inmerle57's post. They make one statement of skepticism: "I do not see it as a Broadway musical".

They go on to support that statement with opinions I happen to agree with - but that does not imply judgement.

It just means that at this point, both merle57 and I have doubts that "remain to be seen&qu

Reimagined THE FANTASTICKS will open on Broadway this fall

merle57 said: "I love The Fantasticks, but I do not see it as a Broadway musical.Itis too delicate, too intimate, too romantic, too spiritual. The original directionis essential to the theme of the parable -- the illusions of romance versus the reality of mature love. Decorating the show may tear apart the fabric of Schmidt and Jones' creation."

See before you judge.

THE LOST BOYS Reviews

Kad said: "There is no way to make cables totally invisible or to totally obscure harnesses. I think all things considered, the production does a very good job at seamlessly getting it done in a very unobtrusive way. I think some suspension of disbelief is required when actors are being flown- stage effects have hard limits."

I think they did amazing at hiding them in Act 1. I was very close and it looked great. Wish they had been consistent with the effect

Final Tony Predictions in All Categories

Rentaholic2 said: "This seems like the rare year where there's a genuine two-horse both for Best Musical (Lost Boys and Schmigadoon) and Best Musical Revival (Cats and Ragtime). Schimgadoon and Cats seem to be going in with the momentum, but both races really could go either way.

I was looking back to see when was the last year that this was the case. I think maybe 2012, when Best Musical was a fight to the finish between Once and Newsies. Best Revival went to Porgy &a

THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW reviews

Bettyboy72 said: "I saw the recent performance of Time Warp on TV and it seemed like each character was in their own show-just running around haphazardly."

It's the same onstage, except they don't run, they just prance.

THE LOST BOYS Reviews

Was I the only one disappointed with the flying?

At some point they used lighting where you could barely see the cables, then it all goes downhill where it looks like they are clumsily pulled up by seven construction cranes.

Two questions regarding Cynthia Erivo

MidWestTheater said: "Jamie Lloyd has already mounted a production of passion at the Donmar back in 2010 with Elena Roger...I wonder if this does happen will it be that production. Kind of how he basically brought his Regents Park production of Evita to the west end.

Also weren't there rumors of Lea Michele and Johnathon Groff possibly collaborating again. Would love to see her in this as Clara.

There are other white male directors out the

Spring Awakening Revival @ Studio Seaview???

DramaTeach said: "Call me crazy because this is obviously just a theory, but I remember Groff saying he had an idea to reunite with Lea for their friendship anniversary. Could this be it? Groff obviously is in Stratford until the beginning of November, but after? SO says it’s star-studded, but maybe the stars are the parents and the kids will be newbies (which is really the way this show should be)."

They can play the adults.

What most people who see this will never know is how artful and ingenious the last revival was. It was superb.

Yes, people will still have fun but they have not much to compare it to.

What we have here is embarrassing for Broadway standards, maybe even for regional theater, Evans aside.
"

The talent onstage is hardly regional theater, so I think this is harsh. Still, thinking about it

THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW reviews

PipingHotPiccolo said: "this revival for me was the inverse of CATS, which was a brilliant spin on a fundamentally weak show. Here, I dont think this production is really doing much with the piece, but the core is zany and solid enough that its still a fun time.

Luke Evans is perfect, and there isnt much more to say. So many dismissed his casting when first announced and they must feel ridiculous now- his voice, his presence, its all working. Andrew Durand and especially S

I was there. It was a nice cameo, and he “did a DJ set” outside the theatre after the show.

Term used loosely because, as far as his DJ skills go, he looks like a grandfather trying to figure out how to use a desktop for the first time. Still a ton of fun though hearing his songs remixed. The “Abracadabra (Gaga)/POTO” Remix was cool.
"

I assumed he just pushes Play and grooves to the prerecorded track.

Tonight's show was great. And I think Bebe Nicole Simpson threw in a little Pippin reference while she was going offstage later in the show.

Sure did! Magic to doooo

THE LOST BOYS Reviews

bruceway said: "Nettik said: "bruceway said: "Do we think this has a better chance of winning Best Musical than Two Strangers? I’m asking cause I can only see one of them."

They're very different. Two Strangers will be identical on tour and play very well in regional houses. Lost Boys will have to be scaled down for tour and likely won't have the same appeal to regional houses so I'd choose Lost Boys because it may be your only

Conclusion: feel lucky that people still pay exorbitant prices to attend the theater, regardless of what they wear.

It will be Rodriguez. Would be shocked if Lloyd fires him to cast someone like Nicholas Christopher who is a completely different type

It’s really variant, but I’ve been able to inquire about Rush sometimes an hour before a performance.

Your best bets are the matinee shows (Wednesday and Saturday). On Sunday, my friend got there around 11:45 (they opened at 11 instead of 12 because of a 1:30 matinee) and got Orch M28

quizking101 said: "blaxx said: "Mega flop."

Considering the original production ran for roughly a third of this production, they set out to do what they could and they did.

I am actually really vexed though because I thought Jojo was going to make a great Florence. The outlook must’ve been grim, but not so bad that it would fold once Lea left. Granted, I could imagine that the lack of awards buzz and the fact that both Nick and Aaron are

The investors won't get a penny of it, sadly.
