Maybe, but this is one of the best things I've ever seen. The performer and musician are mesmerizing.

Maybe I'm too nostalgic from that last revival, that cast was pitch perfect and electric.

This cast to me feels strangely mix and match or "best we could get from what there was", but I'm curious about the direction and concept.

Times have changed significantly. In the past few decades we've had transfers of Off Broadway or Fringe shows that started just as tiny as Fantasticks.

In order to survive, Broadway has found the flexibility to accommodate what the times call for, regardless of its conception or production size.
