Are you asking why an actor would choose to be part of a non-equity tour? Or why a producer would choose to mount a non-equity tour?

From an actor's standpoint: Uh...it's a job, a paycheck, a chance to see the country, a chance to gain experience and exposure etc.

From a producer's standpoint: It's cheaper and often more profitable.

What's this hair apray you speak of? Does it star Dini Martini?

He's a faker, and you've been taken in by his con. And in doing so, you are enabling him. He is doing more damage to aspergers than papa's words ever could. -Chane/Liverpool on me having asperger syndrome.

The producers can charge Broadway ticket prices but do not have to pay the talent union wages. Also, there are no rules to protect actors from how frequestly they travel, how many hours they rehearse, how much per deum they are alotted.

If you are a smart non union actor going out on tour, make sure to negociate a sweet deal for yourself and get it on paper! There is no union to protect you.

What a great way to save a buck.
