Does anyone know any imformation on this show? All i know is that it was based on the life of Shirley Temple....weren't they planning on putting in on Off broadway a few years back?
Curley McDimple was produced off-Broadway close to 40 years ago, at The Bert Wheeler Theater. I opened November 22nd, 1967 and closed January 25th, 1970 after 931 performances.
Rather than being about Shirley Temple's life, it was a "Valentine to the 1930's"....gently poking fun at the style of the Shirley Temple films.
Bernadette Peters originated the role of "Alice"....who was the "Alice Faye" type character, pretty, blonde, etc.
A bit of trivia: One of the little girls who played Curley, Robyn Morgan, was later on the first person to be murdered by Jason, in "Friday the 13th".
I saw this show as a child, more than once.
It was really funny!
I wish someone would revive it!
