I just watch a moving documentary called Secret Lives: Hidden Children and Their Rescuers During WWII (2003). It was made by a hidden child survivor with interviews of many former hidden children. Some were able to reunite with their former rescue families. As my sister-in-law was a hidden child in Poland from the ages of 2-7, this topic has always interested me. I found it on Netflix, in case any one else is interested.

I have to write a response to an article I read about her and finally just read it (I've had it for about 2 weeks), anyway... Irena Sendler died a year ago today. May she R.I.P.

Actually a different Irena! I made the same mistake...that movie Irena's Children was on TV a few weeks ago and I realized there were actually TWO Irenas risking their lives to save Jews during WWII!

that is true. there were two irena's and both saved lives during the war and oddly enough both had daughters named janina. i saw Irena's Vow last week. I was moved. I dont agree with the critics and no one has to agree with me we each have an opinion and we are entitled to it. But i thought the show was wonderful. Yes there are some flaws in the writing, but it is a true story and Tovah Feldshuh gives the best performance on Broadway. I recommend this show to everyone. Again, my opinion and if you disagree please dont call me names. I am a theatre not a critic
