That's horrible. People are still teaching that. I nearly screamed when they got to the swastika part. And I know this is off-topic, but...

Since when are the Olsen twins a famous pair of SINGERS? They made like, one album when they were 6 and can't sing to save their lives.

Question...the picture of the 2 boys with the "God Hates Fags" tee shirts on.....should they be holding hands? I'm afraid they may grow up to be fags.

Jerby - the question is, as always, where do you draw the line? Unless someone is actually advocating going out and physically harming someone, denying them the right of their expression is a very slippery slope. Hell, by my own definition, I should be censored - I'm the one who just advocated a violent response to their parents.
And I'm confused about this double-standard you're bringing up. Where and when did that take place? Goodness knows there's more support on this forum for gay sensibilities than most other places.

There was an interesting point made on there last night that I caught before I was finally so disgusted I had to turn the tv off. There was a guy who was the lead singer in one of the longest running neo-nazi bands and he seemed kind of upset about what the girls were doing because they were too young. He siad that they hadn't be given a chance to make u p their own mind about their beliefs. While I do NOT in ANY way support him or his music or his little subculture I do respect the fact that he acknowledged that these beliefs shouldn't be forced upon children, that it should be something that you decide for yourself. I think even he feels that they are being brainwashed. I really think social services needs to step in and take these children away from their parents. They need help. And to think, we thought that baby TomKat had it bad...

ashley - the interesting thing is, these girls sing NO BETTER than the Olsens! And at least the Olsens had the brains to give up the singing after it was cute to sound like that. These girls are not good singers, neither do they have much in the way of stage presence. They're not getting attention for their talent.

I watched this....and I was absolutely baffled.
Brainwashed.
Those girls really have no minds of their own.
What I found most disturbing was the video game they played called "Ethnic Cleansing." They go around a ghetto shooting minorities that make ape-like noises.
Those girls never stood a chance.

DGrant--they have taken place more so on the main board, particularly when including "Rent" or "Chenowith". :)

I went to the website and feel filthy!
I know that this kind of hate will never go away, but hate to see it in kids like this. What a nutjob that mother is!
This debate about hatespeak is very interesting and I think Jerby makes several good points! I am not sure why there should be any difference between speaking out against this kind of hatred or hatred of glbts. If anyone thinks that angry responses to either is not being "tolerant", it isnt! Anyone who has anything antigay to say deserves to be slammed and will be. It's okay to slam Nazis but not people who hate me because they think the bible tells them so.
Freedom of speach is a sword that will always cut both ways and should be preserved...and DGrant is right. If they get censored because they hate me and want to express it, then I can be censored for something as well.
I know this is looked at as a tool to lure kids into Nazism, but I have a feeling that those listening and watching have parents who want them to already. It's disgusting, but I dont know they are reaching such a wide audience.

They're reaching a large audience by being controversial. It gets them publicity.
These two girls who can't carry a tune would never have appeared on national television if they weren't controversial.

I hear you Jacob, it is like, early on, Oprah had white supremecists on her show and it went very badly, and she stated she'd never give them a voice on her show again.
I dont mean to sound naive and that this is not a huge problem either.
I wonder if there is any validity to a newsmagazine showing this piece. Is it a wake up call to those who may feel complacent about what kind of hate is out there, or is the exposure of these kids too dangerous?

Good for you, VonTussleGirl! Seriously, the fact that you stood up to them is amazing, because crap like that shouldn't be tolerated at any age.

Thanks, guys... it got kind of crazy for a while, and you'd honestly be surprised how cruel junior high girls can be when they're convinced someone's wronged their "bestest friends in the whole wide world." To be honest, I thought what I did was right, but I guess the pull of being "in" with a couple of girls who have -gasp- a CD out is a little too strong for a lot of 13-year-olds to stand up and say "The MESSAGES in their music are more important than the fact that they've been on magazine covers, you halfwits." (Keep in mind I DIDN'T attempt to do this - it was originally just a letter to the newspaper that I, not my mother, as April seems to think, wrote.)
But anyhow, thank you so much. It's still good to know that some people actually believe that I'm a thinking person - rather than a "jealous hatemonger."

They had the gall to call YOU a "hatemonger"?! God, I hate people...
And was anyone else a little bothered by the almost softcore look of the girls on their main page? If they continue down this path, I have a feeling that they'll soon be dressing like this on stage:

Ooh, nice one, Rose! I can totally see it in 4 or 5 years...they can use the costumes to bring the boys to their "cause". And good for you, VTG! Do they really have that much support with kids at your school?
