I never thought 1984 had to do with gay marriage.
You could pull something from Big Brother's intolerance to anyone's ideas but his?

Well, the subject matter doesn't appear in the book. So you better try to wildly interpret the book. Surely some connection can be made. Just stay very much generalising re: 1984

oh, but papa, why do that when you can ask others who have read it to do your work for you?

i read the book, very thouroughly,
it does have to do with gay marriage because you can relate back to Winston and Julia's "forbidden relationship" and how just sex in general is frowned upon and how everything must be uniform.... i just need a little more ideas

Yes, it deals with all sort of things, Emie. But NOT with gay marriage, sorry *lol* As I said, do jump to conclusions, many are possible, but the book itself has a different subject matter.

This is one of my favorite books as well. This really doesn't strike me as a tough assignment... just focus on the infringement on personal freedoms in both cases and the powers that be feeling threatened by individualism/deviation from the status quo. The anti-sex, period, stance of the government is also relevant, but you have to look into the reasoning behind it. Beyond that, you're on your own.

And to think, way back in the dark ages, we just thought of it as an anti-big government, anti-socialist novel.

Just goes to show you can prove just about anything given the right political climate of the time.

I think the dieas you have are good, just elaborate on them. Just explain as thoroughly as you can. When I write papers, I usually have three or four main points that I just explain the hell out of and it turns out fine.
I have mastered the ways of bull****ting a paper ;P

At midnight on 12/31/83, the radio played David Bowie's "1984" as that year was born.

Freedom is Slavery.
