I'm excited to finally go to a play in LA. I'd love to dress up but being CA I don't want to over dress. How dressy should I go? Also anyone have ideas on a nice, reasonably priced hotel near the Pantages?
Thanks!

Posted: 8/13/06 at 8:50pmI'm excited for you too - have a great time. I'm sure someone from LA will jump in here with better info than I have, but judging by theater in NY, pretty much anything goes. Some people dress up and some don't. I'd say that if wearing something special makes the whole thing more enjoyable, go for it. (Barring a tiara and ballgown, that is.)

I agree with Chloe. If you want to celebrate this event by getting dressed up and wearing something special, then you should follow your heart, and do just that!
Enjoy the play! What are you going to see?

If you want dressy without being overdressed, then why not go with something semi-formal?
I have two strapless solid black dresses from Express that are perfect for theatre-going -- try something basic yet elegant.

I usually see more jeans and cords at the Pantages than anything else
(Hi Addy, long time no talk!)

Yes, a ballgown and tiara are completely inappropriate. I only wish I'd had BWW at the time. I had to find that out the hard way.
